Based on norm activation theory, reasoning and complexity this study used structural equation modeling fuzzy set qualitative comparative analysis (fsQCA) to analyze data from 455 tourists at global geoparks China. Results indicated that responsibility ascription, attitude, values, place attachment influence ESBI. fsQCA identified four configuration combinations, confirming theory principles. This paper addressed gaps the literature provided practical implications for geoparks.

Drawing on self-determination and self-efficacy theories, inquiry fills void by proposing a model that delineates motivation–behavior–goal mechanism illuminate pursuits for sustainability develop into self-actualization. Using an explanatory sequential design, we first undertook survey-based investigation with data acquired through purposive sampling sample Zers who had attended minimum one green volunteer trip prior year. Results unravel motivation induce travel involvement, leading citizenship. Exhibiting citizenship presents avenue foster goal attainment subsequent self-actualization, synthesizing path depicts behavior-goal-actualization oneself. The moderating effect is also warranted. A post-hoc study was followed using semistructured interviews explore Zers' attainment. Our findings pave way better understanding behavioral engagement rising cohort towards greener tomorrow. It lays groundwork bring personal growth needs light.
