The woolly apple aphid—WAA (Eriosoma lanigerum Hausmann, 1802) poses a significant threat to intensive production. Given the limitations of conventional synthetic pesticides, there is an urgent need for effective and sustainable pest management strategies. Botanical extracts derived from plants with insecticidal properties mitigating aphid populations without adverse environmental impacts are scarce where WAA concerned. Thus, pertinent study aimed investigate aphicidal potential Koelreuteria paniculata seed ethanolic extract (derived coat) mechanically extracted oil itself). At concentrations 2.5% 5%, both solutions expressed undeniable potential, providing absolute (100%; oil) or (86–100%; extract) mortality rates in vivo vitro. Aquifers, which provide drinking water for nearly half the world's population, face significant challenges from microbial contamination, particularly waterborne viruses such as human adenovirus (HAdV), norovirus (NoV) and enterovirus (EV). This study, conducted part of UPWATER project, investigates sources urban groundwater contamination using viral passive sampling (VPS) target enrichment sequencing (TES). We assessed abundance eight pathogens (HAdV, EV, NoV genogroup I II, rotavirus, influenza A virus, hepatitis E virus SARS-CoV-2) investigated virome diversity in aquifer Besòs River Delta Catalonia. Over a period 7 months, we collected 114 samples nylon nitrocellulose membranes to adsorb over 10-day period. Synthetic insecticides are still used as the main solution in suppressing herbivorous insect attacks on maize at farm level.
