Purpose
The
concept
of
a
“sustainable
career”
has
gained
significant
attention
in
recent
academic
literature,
extending
beyond
mere
professional
success,
encompassing
elements
happiness,
health,
productivity
and
social
empowerment.
This
study
aims
to
develop
validate
the
sustainable
career
scale
(SCS)
measure
this
multidimensional
construct,
including
innovative
dimension
“social
empowerment,”
which
emphasizes
importance
responsibly
addressing
global
needs
challenges.
Design/methodology/approach
research
comprises
five
studies
with
distinct
objectives:
Study
1
focuses
on
item
development
latent
structure
verification;
2
confirms
factorial
structure;
3
assesses
concurrent
discriminant
validity;
4
examines
predictive
validity
reliability;
5
measures
gender
invariance.
Findings
Results
demonstrate
reliability
SCS
items
structure.
Concurrent
are
supported
by
analyzing
relationships
work
engagement,
meaning,
employability,
burnout,
decent
job
satisfaction.
Additionally,
shows
forecasting
eudaimonic,
hedonic
well-being.
Gender
invariance
is
confirmed.
Research
limitations/implications
Future
could
explore
its
applicability
across

contexts.

Who are the models of self-efficacy? Research with students of different ages

Self-efficacy
is
the
belief
in
knowing
how
to
take
right
course
of
action
achieve
one’s
goals.

pillars
self-efficacy

qualitative

Professional
