Female-friendly public spaces are crucial for the sustainable development of old residential communities. To advance female-friendly in Beijing’s communities, this study employs a method that integrates Kano model with an importance–performance analysis. The renovation of old residential neighbourhoods represents a critical livelihood initiative. In this study, theoretical framework utilising fuzzy-set qualitative comparative analysis (fsQCA) is developed to investigate the complex interplay factors influencing satisfaction and identify multiple pathways for enhancement in neighbourhood projects. Thirty within Nanchang’s urban core are selected as case studies. Through systematic evaluation measurement five dimensions—governmental policy; community environment; support; housing quality; resident perception—the research applies fsQCA analyse potential enhancing from “community” perspective. finds that residents’ can be enhanced through four pathways: quality enhancement, support improvement, environment environment–quality linkage. findings yield key policy implications: First, multifactorial synergistic approach should implemented overcome reductionist tendencies toward single-factor solutions. Second, differentiated rehabilitation frameworks prevent homogenisation practices. China, like many other countries around the world, faces a rapidly aging population. “Aging in place” is most popular choice for older people with more than 90% of urban living same residential areas they did middle age. Nighttime outdoor activity (NOA) among elderly and has positive impact on both their physical mental health. However, conditions nighttime places old gated communities often do not meet needs elderly, there are problems such as low lighting poor accessibility. This study focuses typical large city analyzes data three dimensions independent variables: places, built environment communities, attributes residents themselves. Taking “satisfaction NOAs”, “the biggest environmental problem “locations that need improved lighting” dependent variables, we used machine learning to calculate contributions various influencing factors variables.
