Socio-scientific issues (SSI) are open-ended social problems with substantive connections to science. They represent the kind of situations in which many people must decide between different perspectives and decisions. We designed a series seven lessons that aimed build relevant skills young so they can participate responsibly pandemic response measures. In study, three classes 49 Grade 9 students formed basis mixed-methods analysis. measured knowledge, attitudes, argumentation skills. Science interest self-efficacy beliefs increased, although showed no growth on average knowledge test. Unexpectedly, significant development value attitudes was detected. However, socioscientific accountability turned out be helpful explaining differences efficacy beliefs. Argumentation seemed dependent students' socioeconomic status (SES) only. Various proposals further studies hitherto little-studied interactions variables SSI understanding discussed.

Future needs and challenges, especially in complex real-world problem-solving, require education to equip individuals with quality skills. Inquiry-based learning that integrates socio-scientific issues (SSI) can significantly develop students' problem-solving This study aims test the effects of Socio-Scientific Real-world Inquiry (SSRI) model improving used a quasi-experimental pretest-posttest non-equivalent control group design, which involved measuring skills before after intervention two groups: experimental (44 students) inquiry (46 learning. Differences pretest posttest scores on each aspect were analyzed using paired sample t-test, while an independent t-test was compare between groups. Analyze effect size Cohen's Effect Size (ES). The results showed SSRI more effective than findings suggest be approach for empowering educators guiding educational policymakers fostering essential future generations. Tackling climate change is one of the most pressing issues faced by societies around world. Climate education (CCE) therefore great importance. Moreover, previous research has shown that addressing science concepts behind societal such as crisis can reduce gender gap in science. The present study used bibliometric methods to provide an overview field CCE research. Based on 1447 articles CCE, retrieved from Web Science database, we identified relevant journals field, highly cited articles, and collaborations between countries undertaking Thematic mapping analyses author keywords indicate socio-scientific are important topic field. However, disparities only addressed a very limited extent, which demonstrates still untapped potential for engage young women STEM.

Living beings as open systems depend on climate and weather to survive. However, changes in the Earth's climatology, which have become more frequent since industrial period, affected different territories of planet, limiting access ecosystem services causing imbalances health well-being. The first purpose this study is conduct a literature review academic production regarding change its impact health, context education, using international condensed Web Science (WOS) database over last 10 years reference. second focuses identifying environmental attitudes science teachers initial training aspects related change. results show three categories emerging from review: Climate Change Health, Nature Risks, Environment Energy. For analysis attitudes, survey was conducted with 51 pre-service teachers, consisting 59 items distributed five categories: (a) environment, (b) change, (c) (d) (e) lifestyle.
