The rapid flow of resources and participation diverse entities in the information age drive formation innovation networks, yet how these networks evolve strategic emerging industries—particularly transitioning regions like Northeast China—remains underexplored. This study investigates spatial evolution cooperative industries, as well underlying mechanisms driving their development transformation. Focusing on China’s three northeastern provinces—a representative old industrial base undergoing transformation—we construct analyze inter- intra-city from 2009 to 2023 using invention patent data. Employing social network analysis econometric models, we reveal that while external exhibits limited expansion with Beijing a dominant hub, internal demonstrates increasing cohesion, multi-core structure. Factors such urban capacity, economic proximity, institutional proximity play key roles shaping networks. These findings offer policymakers empirical evidence strategically optimize cross-regional ecosystems resource-dependent regions, supporting sustainability fostering innovation-driven development.

The rapid penetration of digital technologies into the manufacturing sector has profoundly impacted development China’s industry. This study aims to explore role economy (DE) in promoting high-quality and reveal specific mechanisms through which it enhances sustainability manufacturing. Using panel data from 30 provinces across China for 2012–2022, this employs an econometric model conduct empirical analysis. results indicate that DE significantly fosters (HQMD), particularly eastern central regions.
