The
escalating
threat
of
antimicrobial
resistance
(AMR),
particularly
among
foodborne
pathogens
such
as
Escherichia
coli,
Salmonella
enterica,
and
Listeria
monocytogenes,
necessitates
innovative
solutions
beyond
conventional
antimicrobials.
Silver
nanoparticles
(AgNPs)
have
garnered
significant
attention
for
their
broad-spectrum
efficacy,
ability
to
target
multidrug-resistant
strains,
versatile
applications
across
the
food
sector.
This
review
critically
examines
AgNPs'
integration
into
safety
strategies,
including
roles
in
packaging,
agricultural
productivity
enhancement,
livestock
disease
mitigation.
Key
advancements
eco-friendly
synthesis
methods,
leveraging
algae,
byproducts,
microbial
systems,
are
highlighted
pathways
address
scalability,
sustainability,
cost
constraints.
However,
potential
risks
silver
bioaccumulation,
environmental
toxicity,
regulatory
challenges
present
barriers
widespread
implementation.
By
reviewing
cutting-edge
research,
this
provides
a
comprehensive
analysis
AgNP
safety,
commercial
viability,
proposing
roadmap
overcoming
current
limitations.
It
calls
collaborative,
interdisciplinary
efforts
bridge
technological,
ecological,
gaps,
positioning
AgNPs
transformative
solution
combating
AMR
ensuring
global
security.
