This study aims to present the current status and forecasts related generation of energy from renewable sources, as well challenges barriers resulting development this in European Union countries. The research procedure consists three stages: bibliometric analysis scientific publications conducted based on Web Science database, visualization results using VOSViewer software (version 1.6.20), in-depth content publications. covered two periods. first one years 1990–2024, which sustainable sources began appear around world. second included 2002, because works countries were identified that year. final sample 96 articles key links between energy. These topics accounted for 50% all issues discussed these articles. It turned out most important modern economies (21.9% examined) is finding a balance economic growth limiting environmental degradation. literature review also shows sector EU its Member States developing dynamically. was confirmed by Eurostat data both production consumption.
