Once they reach the aquatic environment, microplastics (MPs) are accidentally ingested by biota, thus entering food chain with possible negative effects. The present study investigated, for first time, MP presence in cuttlefish (Sepia officinalis) eggs and their association embryonic development. Cuttlefish were sampled from four different sites along Marche region (Senigallia, Ancona, Numana, San Benedetto del Tronto). Embryo hatchling biometric parameters evaluated internal structural integrity was examined through histological analysis. MPs detected characterized embryos yolk samples. identified all (size < 5 µm), however, has not been associated an impairment of either embryo or structures. Microplastics (MPs) are synthetic contaminants that have received global attention due to their ubiquitous occurrence, extreme durability, and capacity harm ecosystems human health. This study investigated the occurrence of MPs in three fish species (Channa striata, Puntius sophore Anabas testudineus) collected from two locations (Ashulia Bridge Mirpur Road) Turag River, which flows alongside Dhaka city, Bangladesh. abundance (items/individuals) was highest Channa striata (3.8 ± 0.6) Ashulia area lowest (1.8 0.4) Road area. Fiber found be most dominant (89–93%) form followed by fragments (21–35%), films (0–26%) foams (0–5%). The color blue (69–83%), then red (20–33%), black (11–14%), green (8–20%), purple (6–8%). majority (56–71%) assessed were <0.5 mm size, 0.5–1.0 (29–33%) 1–5 (38–53%). ATR-FTIR examination revealed specific polymer varieties - PP (40%), PS (30%) LDPE (30%). results this provided a baseline pollution one major protein sources freshwater fishes raised concern on public health particularly who consume urban waterways.

Over the past few decades, scientific community has extensively investigated microplastics (MPs) and their interactions with marine organisms. MPs ingestion been one of most commonly examined topics across fauna. In this study, we present a systematic review conducted to gather information on by different taxonomic groups, collect abundances characteristics, explore relative literature evolution. Additionally, through meta-analysis, focused commercial species, aiming estimate mean quantities in Pisces, Mollusca, Crustacea, Echinodermata. A total at least 822 species were reported have ingested for period 1972–2021. Pisces (class: Teleostei) was frequently group including 513 MP exhibited widest range [0.07–16.33 per individual (MPs/ind) GIT] among families. The effect of 96 h exposure the goldfish Carassius auratus to two different types bioplastic particles, originating from commercial shopping bag (Bag, ~5 mm) and polylactic acid-based (PLA) cup (Cup, ≤5 mm), petroleum-based polyamide particles (PA, 0–180 µm) was studied. Microplastic (MP) ingestion acts as an evolutionary trap with various ecological consequences. Cues that lead animals to respond differently MPs are key factors driving MP ingestion, yet they remain poorly understood. Here, we quantified the susceptibility of three fish species different types across social contexts. Our results showed bass were more attracted resembled food visually, whereas carp tended select shared olfactory cues food. Goldfish relied on oral processing make foraging decisions MPs. Microplastics (MPs) are prevalent in aquatic ecosystems; however, inland water bodies have received relatively little attention. These ecosystems provide essential habitat for various fish species, which contribute to ecological equilibrium and support the livelihoods food security of millions. Fish demonstrate increased vulnerability microplastic ingestion, making them bioindicators ecosystem health contamination levels. This study evaluates presence MPs intestine, gills, muscle tissue 30 individuals belonging five commonly found species ( Rhinomugil corsula , Mystus tengara Ompok pabda Labeo bata Cirrhinus mrigala ) Padma River. A total 252 MP items different shapes were recorded 100% investigated, exhibiting an average frequency 8.27 ± 2.16 per individual. Among exhibited highest ingestion MPs, with 11.5 1.87 individual, followed by other species. Organ‐wise analysis trend was be: intestine > gill muscle. Fiber recognized as most consumed type (72%), fragment (22%), pellet (4%), foam (2%). The white‐color (24%) predominant, colored MPs. majority particles size class 1–5 mm (41.10% 12.34%), <500 μm (34.18% 16.34%) 500 μm–1 (24.72% 11.51%).
