Once

This
study
investigates
the
occurrence
and
characteristics
of
macroplastic
polymer
microparticles
in
Urias
coastal
lagoon’s
beach
sediments,
northwest
Mexico.
Coastal
lagoons,
productive
vulnerable
ecosystems,
are
impacted
significantly
by
anthropogenic
activities,
leadings
to
their
pollution
various
contaminants,
including
plastics.
Our
research
involved
sampling
sediments
from
four
sites
within
lagoon
that
were
influenced
different
human
activities
such
as
fishing,
aquaculture,
thermoelectric
power
plant
operations,
industrial
domestic
wastewater
discharge.
methodology
included
collecting
macroplastics
sediment
samples,
followed
laboratory
analyses
identify
plastic
debris’
size,
shape,
color,
chemical
composition.
The
results
indicated
a
notable
presence
items
(144),
predominantly
bags,
styrofoam,
caps
made
polyethylene
(PE),
polypropylene
(PP),
terephthalate
(PET).

fibers,

cotton
polyester

polymers,
suggesting
significant
contribution
clothing-related
waste.
