Air pollution presents a severe risk to public health, with particulate matter (PM) identified as significant hazardous element. However, despite the eye organ being constantly exposed air pollution, only recently has impact of PM on ocular health caught attention researchers and healthcare professionals. By compiling pertinent data, this paper aims enhance our understanding underlying pathological mechanisms PM-mediated disorders facilitate development effective treatment strategies. Recent data support association between exposure pathologies such dry syndrome, retinal atherosclerosis, glaucoma. Based results multiple studies, can lead oxidative stress, inflammation, autophagy, cell death, and, ultimately, ophthalmic diseases. This review consolidate latest findings diseases by summarizing outcomes from epidemiological, in vitro, vivo studies surface well other relevant disorders.
