Although total selenium content is still useful in many areas, knowledge of its speciation gaining importance as various chemical forms have different environmental effects, toxicities and biological utilization. Among several methods used for the isolation enrichment species, solid-phase extraction alternative approaches are often applied due to their simplicity high efficiency. This brief overview summarizes progress made using nanostructure sorbents separate preconcentrate inorganic species waters. Nanomaterials finding increasing applications they a large specific surface area stability. Functionalizing by covalent or noncovalent interactions with other components, grafting doping heteroatoms can improve separation removal Strategies based on combining selective reactions procedures discussed.
