Fertilizer application is a common agricultural practice that enhances soil fertility but can also increase heavy metal mobility in contaminated soils. This study used pot experiment with four vegetables (water spinach, Chinese cabbage, lettuce, and garland chrysanthemum) to evaluate the impact of BC, ZE, their combination (CO) on Cd Pb levels under different fertilization schemes. Results showed CO treatment significantly enhanced enzyme activities, increasing urease by 2.6–31.6% catalase 1.37–14.24% varying fertilizer conditions. However, sucrase activity increased only compound fertilizers. The use fertilizers alone raised vegetable shoots 0.65 mg·kg⁻¹ 12.76 mg·kg⁻¹, respectively, while amendment effectively mitigated these increases. BCR sequential extraction indicated BC shifted into more stable fractions, reducing bioavailability. Specifically, reduced accumulation 24.8–49.7%, showing particular efficacy levels. These findings highlight particularly combination, offer an effective strategy for remediating metal-contaminated soils systems, especially when chemical are used.

Reproductive organs are essential not only for the life of an individual but also survival and development species. The response reproductive to toxic substances differs from that other target organs, they may serve as ideal “barometer” deleterious effects environmental pollution on animal human health. incidence infertility, cancers, associated maladies has increased in last fifty years or more, while various anthropogenic activities have released into environment numerous substances, including cadmium, lead, mercury. Data epidemiological studies suggested exposure mercury produced developmental toxicity. present review focused experimental using rats, mice, avian, rabbits demonstrate unambiguously structure function organs. Heavy metals, pervasive in the environment due to natural processes and human activities, pose substantial threats ecosystems health. This study aims delve into sources, contamination pathways waters, subsequent bioaccumulation of heavy metals across various organisms. The overview encompasses an exploration environmental persistence, dynamics, ecotoxicological impacts these metals. Methodologically, this research undertakes a comprehensive review synthesizing existing literature studies on metal contamination, mechanisms, ecotoxicity. Key findings highlight protracted persistence perpetuating significant ecological balance well-being. Notably, transfer through food chains culminates their diverse organisms, raising concerns about potential toxicity, including exposure. discussion underscores imperative nature assessing pollution its ramifications Emphasizing essential role bioindicators biomarkers, article elucidates significance evaluating metal-induced stressors impact both biota populations. contributes nuanced understanding advocating for proactive measures monitoring mitigating deleterious effects

Environmental exposure to cadmium (Cd) or lead (Pb) is independently associated with increased risks of type 2 diabetes, and chronic kidney disease. The aim this study was examine the effects concurrent these toxic metals on diabetes functional impairment. Cd Pb levels among subjects were low moderate, evident from means for blood concentrations ([Cd]b [Pb]b) 0.59 µg/L 4.67 µg/dL, respectively. Of 176 (mean age 60), 71 (40.3%) had abnormally high fasting plasma glucose levels. Based their [Cd]b [Pb]b, 53, 71, 52 assigned profiles 1, 2, 3, diagnosis by 4.2-fold in those an profile 3 (p = 0.002), 2.9-fold estimated glomerular filtration (eGFR) ≤ 60 mL/min/1.73 m2 0.029). prevalence odds ratio (POR) albuminuria 5-fold above threshold 180 mg/dL 0.014), 3.1-fold eGFR) 0.050). Collectively, findings suggest that equally impact function risk.
