This study aimed to explore the impact of acute acidification on antioxidant, metabolic performance, and liver histology juvenile yellowfin tuna. The experiment subjected tuna a pH gradient environment 8.1, 7.6, 7.1, 6.6 for 48 h. findings indicate that seawater 7.1 significantly impacts antioxidant systems in comparison control group. At there were observed increases glutathione reductase (GR), total capacity (T-AOC), lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), hexokinase (HK), pyruvate kinase (PK), sodium-potassium ATPase (Na+K+-ATP), calcium-magnesium (Ca2+Mg2+-ATP). Conversely, low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), high-density (HDL-C), triglycerides (TGs) not different across treatment groups. However, an increase transaminases at suggested potential damage, which was further supported by structural tissue degeneration hepatocyte vacuolation. In conclusion, under conditions stress, is decrease suppression levels tuna, leading oxidative damage. lays foundation in-depth understanding response mechanisms as well healthy farming broader context acidification.

Abstract Bardawil Lake is a unique aquatic ecosystem that provides habitat for various fish and other marine organisms. This study aimed to analyze the quality of species prove this lake free pollution, not Egyptian lakes, due accumulation some heavy metals (Cd, Pb, Cu, Zn) in tissues were caught from lake. Thirty-five samples during Spring 2018 seven different species: Mugil cephalus, Liza auratus, Sparus aurata, Dicentrarchus labrax, Siganus rivulatus, Anguilla angilla, Solae solea . The Association Official Analytical Chemists methods using spectrophotometer determined biochemical composition. In contrast, atomic absorption spectrometry (AAS) was employed determine expressed by µg/g wet weight. Results exposed essential micronutrient (Cu, content higher than toxic elements (Cd & Pb) muscles order Zn > Cu Pb Cd. Muscles < gills liver all except with gills. studied lower those set WHO EU standards. carcinogenic risk allowable limits 1 × 10 –6 –4 both normal high consumption groups; target total hazard quotients (THQ HI) 1. composition level highest liver, protein, which muscle species. There no evidence harmful contaminants muscular tissue sampled Lake, although fishing activity. However, customers should know health concerns may be associated overeating fish.

The aim of this study was to estimate the fish quality in terms Cu, Fe, Mn and Zn contents. research material muscle tissue crucian carp (Carassius carassius Linnaeus, 1758), flounder (Platichthys flesus Gilthead seabream (Sparus aurata mackerel (Scomber scombrus Blue grenadier (Macruronus novaezelandiae Hector, 1871), rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss Walbaum, 1792), tench (Tinca tinca tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus Walleye pollock (Gadus chalcogrammus Pallas, 1814) perch (Perca fluviatilis 1758.). Heavy metals were determined with atomic absorption spectrometry method (AAS). Significantly high concentrations zinc (19.52 mg/kg wet weight), copper (0.77 mg/kg) iron (6.95 found muscles (p < 0.05) compared other studied, whereas had a higher content manganese (0.266 0.05). All studied species do not pose threat humans from these four metals. This indicated by indexes (THQ HI) whose values below one. also did exceed maximum allowable established FAO (1983), but monitoring both aquatic environment living there is necessary, for example, time-changing abiotic biotic factors that can cause an increase organs fish.

Microplastics (MPs) are pollutants widely distributed in aquatic ecosystems. MPs introduced mainly by ingestion acting locally or organs far from the gastroenteric tract. MPs-induced health consequences for fish species still need to be fully understood. We aimed investigate effects of subchronic oral exposure polystyrene microplastics (PS-MPs) (1-20 μm) gilthead seabreams (Sparus aurata) used as experimental model. studied detrimental impact PS-MPs (25 and 250 mg/kg b.w./day) on redox balance antioxidant status intestine using histological analysis molecular techniques. The research goal was examine anterior (AI) posterior (PI) tracts, characterized morphological functional differences. caused an increase reactive oxygen nitrosylated proteins both well augmented malondialdehyde production PI. also differently affected gene expression enzymes (i.e., superoxide dismutase, catalase, glutathione reductase). Moreover, increased up-regulation protective heat shock (HSPs) hsp70 hsp90) observed Our findings demonstrate that responsible oxidative/nitrosative stress alterations detoxifying defense system responses with differences AI PI seabreams.

Chlorpyrifos (CPF) and cypermethrin (CYP) are two insecticides that have a proven negative effect on non-target aquatic organisms when they enter the surface waters. However, literature comparative effects of these pesticides important aquaculture fish species, such as common carp (Cyprinus carpio Linnaeus, 1758) is not yet scientifically detailed, especially over long-term. The idea conducting long-term exposure to find out how observed biomarkers would change compared short-term exposure. In natural environment, toxicants present alone, but in combination. By monitoring impact individual substances, state ecosystems exposed various could be predicted. Thus, this study aimed evaluate toxicity different concentrations CYP (0.0002, 0.0003, 0.0006 μg/L) CPF (0.03, 0.05, 0.10 50-L glass tanks C. carpio, for 30 days under laboratory conditions. A set histological biochemical gills liver were applied with chemical analyses water organs. Furthermore, condition hepatosomatic index calculated assess physiological status treated carps. behavioral responses also monitored, respiration rate was analyzed. results suggest had more prominent structure organs, anti-oxidant enzymes, behavior, CPF. addition, indicate susceptible chronic chemically induced cellular stress gills, overall destructive changes rather than adaptive. Regardless scenario, our provide novel insights into pesticide possible biological impacts economically freshwater fish, lower concentrations, based EU legislation (maximum allowable MAC-EQS).

The widespread use of pesticides leads to the contamination groundwater, which harms environment and threatens life. goal current study was determine degree pesticide groundwater in agricultural regions with varying degrees use. In 15 districts Punjab province Pakistan, chemical residues major groups including, neonicotinoids, organophosphates, carbamates pyrethroids were detected water samples. Two most commonly used herbicides, isoproturan diuron, also tested but not any Five southern Punjab/core area had highly contaminated due presence from all insecticide groups. Although less severe than core area, a different set five central significant issues. located marginal lowest amount residues. highest levels imidacloprid identified throughout winter season. Thiacloprid, fipronil, acetamiprid nearly samples, non-significant differences concentrations summer seasons, as well non-core areas. Different quality parameters pH, electrical conductivity temperature correlations Overall, it is concerning that insecticides are widely contaminating groundwater. This issue should be managed through integrated pest management, non-chemical control strategies, judicious practices.

Abstract Legal restrictions and consumer trends are contributing to the growing movement for fish welfare. Therefore, aquaculture sector is a means of reducing animal stress enhancing physiological state, which raises financial profits. Feed additives have therefore been suggested as possible dietary alleviation. In this trend, 75-day feeding trial was conducted evaluate effects three organic acids (formic acid (FA), lactic (LA), commercial mix (COM)) in Nile tilapia ( Oreochromis niloticus ) reared under stressful condition (unchanged water). Fish (weighing 3.95 ± 0.05 g) were randomly housed into eight groups n = 210 fish/group; 70 fish/replicate; 3 replicates/group). The first (negative control) second (positive fed basal diet without with water exchange at 20% volume every 2 days group second. other six (FA1, FA2, LA1, LA2, COM1, COM2) diets supplemented OAs two doses (1 2%) during trial. results revealed that kept had highest level water-unionized ammonia nitrite marked decline growth performance (weight gain specific rate). unchanged induced substantial decreases hematological profile (white red blood cell count, hemoglobin value, hematocrit %), protein indices (total protein, albumin, globulin), antioxidant-immune response (superoxide dismutase, catalase, lysozyme, total immunoglobulin M). addition, biochemical (glucose, creatinine, urea, alanine aminotransferase, aspartate aminotransferase) lipid peroxide (malondialdehyde) substantially increased positive control group. addition that, severe histopathological alteration gills, liver, intestine including hyperplasia, hemorrhage, degenerative necrotic changes associated desquamation sloughing obvious PC Dietary LA1 significantly enhanced P < 0.05) overall measured indices; meanwhile, FA COM recorded worst results. Overall, our findings demonstrate negatively affected functions tilapia. incorporation did not protect from these hazards except LA (1%). latter can reduce nitrogenous compounds, enhance immune response, alleviate alterations sustainable industry.
