Abstract Lactoferrin (Lf) is a glycoprotein belonging to the transferrin family, which can be found in mammalian milk. It was first isolated from bovine milk 1930s, and later 1960s, it determined human This multifunctional protein has specific ability bind iron. plays various biological roles, such as antibacterial, antiviral, antifungal, anti-tumour, anti-obesity, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory immunomodulatory activities. There are several studies describing its use against cancer cell lines (e.g., liver, lung breast) even been reported inhibit development of experimental metastases mice. Previous also suggest Lf-mediated neuroprotection age-related neurodegenerative diseases expected attenuate aging. More recently, Lf proposed potential approach COVID-19 prophylaxis. In this review, we discuss recent developments about activities pleiotropic that will reason exploitation biomedical supplementary nutritional value.

Lactoferrin is a multifunctional glycoprotein naturally found in mammalian secretions, predominantly colostrum and milk. As key component of dairy foods, lactoferrin enhances viral protection boosts human health, owing to its fundamental properties including antiviral, anti-inflammatory, immune-modulatory effects. Importantly, the antiviral effect has been shown against range viruses causing serious infections threatening health. One that exerts significant effects on papillomavirus (HPV), which most prevalent transmitted infection affecting myriad people around world. high potential inhibit HPV via different mechanisms, direct binding envelope proteins or their cell receptors, thereby hindering entry immune stimulation by triggering release some immune-related molecules through body, such as lymphocytes. Along with HPV, also can coronaviruses hepatitis same manner. Here, we overview current knowledge other infections.

Certain milk proteins and peptides exhibit promising immunogenic antiviral properties, particularly against coronaviruses like SARS-CoV-2. Amidst the global pandemic, these bioactive components present potential alternatives for combating viral diseases. Milk are known to play important roles functioning in various stages of SARS-CoV-2 replication cycle, including entry, endocytic processes, replication, cell signaling modulation. Notably, bovine lactoferrin, is reported synergistically enhance effects remdesivir, an FDA-approved anti-SARS-CoV-2 drug. Peptides derived from have demonstrated some efficacy both vitro silico studies. While findings highlight as natural agents, further validation through vivo studies clinical trials imperative determine their efficacy, safety, optimal dosages. This review provides a comprehensive exploration specific peptides.

This study describes the comparison between interaction of a series peptide-functionalized chitosan-based nanocapsules and liposomes with two cell lines, i.e., mouse macrophages RAW 264.7 human endothelial cells EA.hy926. Both types nanocarriers are loaded magnetic nanoparticles designed for anti-inflammatory therapy. The choice these nanostructures is argued based on their advantages in terms size, morphology, chemical composition, multiple possibilities modifying surface. Moreover, active targeting might be ensured by using an external field. To explore impact cytophysiology, viability, MTT assay, morphology were investigated. results revealed low to moderate cytotoxicity free significant induced chitosan-coated dexamethasone, confirming its release from delivery system. Thus, after 48 h treatment nanocapsules, viability varied 88.18% (OCNPM-1I, 3.125 µg/mL) 76.37% (OCNPM-1, 25 µg/mL). In same conditions, EA.hy926 was 99.91% (OCNPM-3, 75.15% at highest dose (25 µg/mL), values being comparable both lines. Referring reactivity dexamethasone-loaded liposome application, lowest 41.25% (CLDM5CP-1, 58.20% (CLDMM2CP-1 1.25 line, proving selective character action nanocarriers. test, performed support confirm obtained differentiated response nano-carriers.
