ageing

an

role
in
dry
eye
disease
(DED)
pathophysiology.
This
multifactorial
disorder,
characterised
by
tear
film
instability,
inflammation,
visual
impairment,
disproportionately
affects
women,
especially
after
menopause.
It
highlights
interplay
between
sex
steroid
hormones,
gland
environmental
factors.
Systemic
local
androgens
are
vital
for
maintaining
health
production,
while
of
oestrogens
remains
less
clear.
Evidence
suggests
dose
context-dependent
effects
on
inflammation
glandular
function.
Histopathological
molecular
studies
reveal
significant
differences

with
women
exhibiting
more
pronounced
age-related
degenerative
changes,

Background:
Eye
dryness
is
a
common
health
problem
among
older
adults
which
negatively
impacts
their
quality
of
life.
Aim:
To
assess
the
effect
blinking
exercises
on
eye
and
life
for
elderly
people.
Design:
A
quasi-experimental
research
design
(Pre/post-test)
was
utilized.
Sample:
purposive
sample
one
hundred
patients
who
complained
from
dry
selected.
Setting:
The
study
conducted
in
ophthalmology
outpatient
clinics
at
Minia
University
Hospital,
Egypt.
Methods:
Three
validated
tools
were
used
1)
structured
interview
questionnaire
sheet
involving
personal
medical
profiles.
2)
Ocular
Surface
Disease
Index
(OSDI)
questionnaire,
3)
Impact
Dry
Everyday
Life
Questionnaire.
Results:
mean
age
studied
68.62±8.62,
59.0%
female.
It
found
that
severity
declined
after
implementation
to
5%
versus
15%
before
intervention
mild
level
moderate
compared
with
40%
high
statistical
significance
