Continuous flushing systems such as vortex settling basins (VSBs) are commonly utilized to remove sediment particles in power plants and irrigation drainage networks. This study evaluates the performance of a typical VSB, focusing on removal efficiency (ηe), flow (ηflow), inlet canal (ηin). In continuous operation VSBs, remains appropriate metric, opposed trapping efficiency. The impact hydraulic geometric parameters was analyzed using Taguchi design, experimental modeling, statistical analysis through response surface methodology (RSM). VSB evaluated ANOVA test, along with Pareto chart desirability function approach for multi-objective optimization. predicted optimal values ηin, ηe, ηflow were 94.09%, 69.40%, 91.67%, respectively. optimum condition having higher case 0.3625 mm particle diameter, 0.1 m orifice end sill height, 22 L/s discharge, 0.05 outlet weir. Cement-based foam composites have gained attention as innovative and high-performing adsorbents for wastewater treatment due to their lightweight, porous, structurally robust properties. This study investigates the adsorption of Eriochrome Black T dye onto biochar-modified cement foam, providing a cost-effective solution industrial management. The integration biochar into enhances its surface area capabilities while maintaining structural stability tunable porosity. were characterized using scanning electron microscopy, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy verify quality functionality. process adhered Freundlich isotherm model (R2 = 0.967), indicating multilayer adsorption, with maximum capacity 13.33 mg/g under optimal conditions. Abstract Synthetic dyes in wastewater present a challenging problem that requires special attention due to the high environmental risks, and magnetic adsorbents appear as promising alternatives solve it. Magnetic activated carbons (MAC) were prepared by comparing single- multi-step methods. Palm kernel shells used precursors, with ZnCl 2 , then magnetized adding solution containing Fe 3+ ions (FeCl 3 ). Iron compound inclusion aims enhance effectiveness of carbon an adsorbent for liquid waste. Fourier transform infra-red characterization showed functional groups detected on MAC O–H, C═O, C═C, C≡N, C–O. The effect preparation methods dye concentration (10–30 mg·L −1 ) adsorption kinetics investigated. Characterization through pyrolysis (M-MAC) has larger pores, achieving capacity up 6.953 mg·g 28% removal efficiency, making it superior performance. Furthermore, data fitted well Redlich–Peterson isotherm model R = 0.9788 M-MAC, while agreed both pseudo-first-order pseudo-second-order models. Moreover, NaOH successfully recovered desorption efficiencies 98.34%.

This study evaluated the potential of using raw Maclura pomifera and wild carob for treatment methylene blue (MB) crystal violet (CV) as part search new, abundant, cost-effective natural materials applicable wastewater treatment. Additionally, it explored impact washing water temperature on adsorption performance these organic materials. The physicochemical properties were characterized BET, SEM/EDS, FTIR analyses. effects various experimental parameters investigated through batch experiments. results demonstrated that influence was material-dependent.
