The
up-flow
anaerobic
sludge
bed
(UASB)
reactor
is
a
high-efficiency
system
capable
of
carrying
out
digestion
with
shorter
hydraulic
retention
times
than
traditional
digesters.

review
highlights
recent
advancements
in
UASB
applications
and
key
aspects
such
as
microbial
community
dynamics
hydrodynamics
that
could
drive
future
developments.

specifically,
this
evaluates
the
working
principles

to
optimize
efficiency,

at

temperature
constraints,
