Abstract Bioelectronic Medicine (BEM), which uses implantable electronic medical devices to interface with electrically active tissues, aspires revolutionize the way we understand and fight disease. By leveraging knowledge from microelectronics, materials science, information technology, neuroscience medicine, BEM promises offer novel solutions that address unmet clinical needs change concept of therapeutics. This perspective communicates our vision for future presents necessary steps need be taken challenges faced before this new technology can flourish.
