The article describes transformation of mechanical systems automobiles into mechatronic ones due to application electronic control systems. OCR for laser marking quality assessment

Since 2020 in the USA1 and 2021 Europe, all medical devices have to be marked with a Unique Device Identification (UDI) code ensure their traceability. UDI codes are laser but engraving process is error-prone due laser-related or external conditions. Defects may assessed visually this costly gives rise human errors. Using machine vision perform task for large batches of challenging alterations readability caused by marking defects image quality. Therefore, we tested several learned methods achieve two goals: correctly recognize characters identifying on codes. As were engraved cylindrical metallic surfaces paint effect, had address problem specular stray reflections through development tailor-made lighting engine. Our grabbing processing pipeline comprises an imaging device designed prevent onto codes; Optical Character Recognition (OCR) algorithm (multilayer perceptron, support vector machine, classical segmentation), probabilistic model detect faulty that need further qualified operator. results show multilayer perceptron (MLP) (SVM) recognition performances very close together above segmentation.
