Abstract Background: Colorectal cancer (CRC) is a prevalent and lethal malignancy. This study examines differences in clinical prognostic characteristics of CRC between patients under 50 years those aged above, treated at reference hospital Southern Brazil. Methods: A retrospective cohort was conducted, analyzing data from the Cancer Hospital Registry Porto Alegre, RS. Patients diagnosed with colon or rectal adenocarcinoma January 2013 December 2017 were included. Variables analyzed included family history, alcoholism, smoking status, staging, tumor laterality, presentation, CEA levels diagnosis, adjuvant chemotherapy, neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio. Results: The 1,121 patients, 85% older, 15% younger than years. Significant observed status presenting more aggressive disease characteristics. Conclusions: Age lifestyle factors, particularly smoking, significantly influenced presentation management colorectal cancer. These findings underscore importance targeted prevention strategies personalized treatment approaches for patients.

Colorectal cancer stands as the third most prevalent form of worldwide, with a notable increase in incidence Western countries, mainly attributable to unhealthy dietary habits and other factors, such smoking or reduced physical activity. Greater consumption vegetables fruits has been associated lower colorectal cancer, which is attributed their high content fiber bioactive compounds, flavonoids. In this study, we have tested flavonoids quercetin, luteolin, xanthohumol potential antitumor agents an animal model induced by azoxymethane dodecyl sodium sulphate. Forty rats were divided into four cohorts: Cohort 1 (control cohort), 2 (quercetin 3 (luteolin 4 (xanthohumol cohort). These administered intraperitoneally evaluate pharmaceutical agents. At end experiment, after euthanasia, different parameters intestinal microbiota populations analyzed. Luteolin was effective significantly reducing number tumors compared control cohort. Furthermore, main significant differences at level observed between cohort treated experienced reduction abundance genera disease inflammatory conditions, Clostridia UCG-014 Turicibacter. On hand, healthy state, Muribaculum, showed luteolin results underline anti-colorectal manifested through modulation tumors.

This systematic review investigates the intersection of early-onset colorectal cancer (EOCRC), sexual functioning, and associated quality life (QoL), aiming to understand comprehensive impact EOCRC on these critical dimensions. Through an extensive search across PubMed, Scopus, Embase up until November 2023, this study synthesized evidence from literature while adhering PRISMA guidelines. The studies included patients under 50 years, which examined functioning QoL using validated instruments, were published in English. After a rigorous screening process, five relevant identified initial pool 2184 articles. includes data involving 2031 patients. key findings revealed high prevalence dysfunction, with 50% men experiencing impotence 58% reporting alongside 36% women some studies. Pain was described by 12% 31% Anxiety depression notably prevalent, affecting 69% participants. profoundly impacts QoL, significant dysfunction psychological distress among affected individuals. These suggest need for oncological management strategies that include not only medical treatment but also support health interventions. emphasizes importance holistic patient care approaches, advocating further research clinical attention address complex needs younger

Colorectal cancer (CRC) is one of the major causes cancer-related mortality worldwide. Despite advances in treatment modalities, its prevalence continues to rise, notably among younger populations. Unhealthy dietary habits, sedentary routines, and obesity have been identified as key contributors development colorectal cancer, apart from genetic epigenetic modifications. Recognizing profound impact diet lifestyle on intricate gut microbiota ecosystem offers a promising avenue for understanding CRC treatment. Gut dysbiosis, characterized by imbalances favoring harmful microbes over beneficial ones, has emerged defining feature CRC. Changes can profoundly alter composition metabolites they produce, potentially contributing onset. Focusing recent evidence, this review discussed various factors, such high consumption red processed meats low fiber intake, including obesity, lack physical activity, smoking, excessive alcohol consumption, that influence microbiome elevate risk.

Colorectal cancer (CRC) presents an enormous burden on cancerrelated deaths and ranks third in cancer-associated mortality both men women worldwide. 1CRC develops when stem cells at the base of colon's crypts experience genetic epigenetic alterations.Normal become cancerous because these changes, which disrupts delicate balance between oncogenes tumor suppressor genes. 1 Surgery, chemotherapy, radiation, immunotherapy, targeted therapy are routine therapies for CRC.Nonetheless, depending CRC subtype, prognosis following chemotherapy varies considerably. 2More than 20% incidences linked to long-term inflammation often observed patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD).This type CRC, called colitis-associated colorectal (CAC), is common IBD.

Background: To investigate the significance of negative elongation factor complex member C/D (NELFCD) in colon cancer progression. Methods: Immunohistochemistry staining, Western blot analysis, and real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR) were used to quantify protein/gene levels. NELFCD-protein arginine methyltransferase 5 (PRMT5) interaction was determined by co-immunoprecipitation assay. A chromatin immunoprecipitation (ChIP) assay performed determine between promoter region dual specificity phosphatase 2 (DUSP2), NELFCD, PRMT5. Cell growth cell cycle progression assessed using counting kit-8 proliferation assay, colony formation and/or flow cytometry. Results: NELFCD upregulated promoted growth. In cells, expression negatively correlated with DUSP2 expression. The RNA sequencing results indicated that genes mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) signaling pathway as well affected NELFCD. ChIP revealed MAPK are direct targets verified PRMT5 is enriched at overexpression this enrichment. demonstrated bound PRMT5, functioning a macromolecular complex. Conclusions: This study suggests promotes recruiting inhibit expression, which subsequently activates p38 pathway. Targeting NELFCD–DUSP2–p38 axis may be promising therapeutic intervention for patients suffering from NELFCD-amplified tumors.
