Cue reactivity to Electronic Nicotine Delivery Systems (ENDS) has been studied by several researchers, yet the variability in user types (smokers, former smokers, dual users, exclusive ENDS users) and designs used between studies may have undermined consistent results. This systematic review aims give an overview of cue how smoking status device design moderate this. A search Medline, Embase, Web Science, PubMed Cochrane was completed. All which reported findings on cues form craving or desire for cigarettes, attention cue, delay gratification economic decisions were included. There is a critical need to understand the health risks associated with vaping e-cigarettes, which has reached epidemic levels among teens. Juul currently most popular type of e-cigarette on market. Using Comparative Toxicogenomics Database (CTD; http://ctdbase.org), public resource that integrates chemical, gene, phenotype and disease data, we aimed analyze potential molecular mechanisms eight chemicals detected in aerosols generated by heating pods: nicotine, acetaldehyde, formaldehyde, free radicals, crotonaldehyde, acetone, pyruvaldehyde, particulate matter. Curated content CTD, including chemical-gene, chemical-phenotype, chemical-disease interactions, as well phenotypes pathway enrichment, were analyzed help identify diseases vaping. Nicotine shows direct associations these chemicals, followed matter formaldehyde. Together, show marker or mechanistic relationship 400 unique particularly categories cardiovascular diseases, nervous system respiratory tract cancers, mental disorders. We chose three investigate further, found addition cellular processes apoptosis cell proliferation, prioritized underlying Juul-associated outcomes include response oxidative stress, inflammatory response, several signaling pathways (p38MAPK, NIK/NFkappaB, calcium-mediated).

Electronic cigarettes or e-cigarettes have gained significant popularity as an alternative to traditional cigarettes, yet limited research has examined the factors influencing their adoption, particularly in developing nations like Philippines, where usage is rising. This study investigates behavioral drivers of e-cigarette use, with a particular focus on role knowledge, alongside social influence, perceived price impact, health and usefulness. Using purposive sampling, 310 valid responses were collected from current users, cigarette individuals prior experience these products. A structured questionnaire 21 indicators was administered, data analyzed using Partial Least Square-Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The findings reveal that knowledge strongest predictor intention, highlighting critical informed awareness about risks impacts shaping user decisions. Social impact also significantly influence demonstrating interconnectedness cognitive, social, economic factors. Interestingly, usefulness did not effect, challenging assumptions importance functional benefits driving adoption. These results underscore education campaigns addressing misconceptions e-cigarettes. Policymakers, regulators, professionals should prioritize knowledge-driven interventions empower make decisions mitigate among younger economically vulnerable populations.

Background: Young adults are using e-cigarettes at high rates. While the literature on health risks associated with is extensive and growing, little known about young adults’ thoughts perceptions of safety harms e-cigarettes. Methods: We conducted one-on-one interviews aged 18 to 25 years in Los Angeles, California between June 2018 2019. interviewed audio-recorded (N = 62) who consented study self-reported have used a weekly basis or more for least 5 months prior enrollment. The respiratory impact of e-cigarette usage, also known as vaping, emerged a significant healthcare issue in 2019. This concern arose due to the sharp rise cases or vaping-associated lung injury (EVALI) among adolescents and young adults. Now, systemic manifestations have been described. We present case 39-year-old male patient who had vaping for 5 years developed EVALI associated with multiple severe complications, including acute myocardial infarction, metabolic acidosis, kidney sepsis-like syndrome, requiring hospitalization critical care unit. Every day, reports patients complications use e-cigarettes are becoming more frequent. Therefore, it is crucial clinicians be aware this condition consider whether truly constitutes safe alternative combat smoking.

Abstract: BACKGROUND: Smoking and vaping tobacco present substantial health hazards. Nevertheless, the precise impact of cigarette smoking on hematological indicators, such as complete blood count (CBC) erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR), is still uncertain. OBJECTIVES: This study was conducted to examine impacts parameters young, physically fit male university students. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A cross-sectional carried out that included 102 students from Komar University Science Technology. The between February June 2024. Standard techniques were employed collect analyze samples for CBC ESR. RESULTS: Out participants, with an average age 21 years, 71 smokers 31 nonsmokers. Smokers exhibited significantly higher red cell (RBC) count, hemoglobin (HGB) levels, hematocrit (HCT) compared platelet lower in compare On other hand, vapers demonstrated highest RBC among subgroups, followed by those who smoked both cigarettes vapes. Furthermore, there no notable disparities detected ESR values participant groups. CONCLUSIONS: revealed elevates HGB, HCT levels while reducing counts. Among vapers, highest, but significant differences observed counts nor Therefore, have characteristics RBCs; this signifies additional research required investigate long-term parameters.

Electronic cigarettes (e-cigs), initially introduced as smoking cessation aids, have given rise to a new wave of nicotine dependence. A critical question that has emerged is the potential adverse effects e-cig use on oral health, particularly how vapor emitted from these devices may alter salivary composition users. Here, we investigate users and analyze e-liquids (flavorings) using Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy. Saliva samples were categorized into two groups: e-cigarette (25 individuals) nonsmokers/nonusers individuals). Additionally, 26 e-liquid used by collected, with 17 obtained before 9 after use. The analysis provided reliable results in distinguishing between groups. Notably, partial least-squares discriminant (PLS-DA) demonstrated high degree accuracy (>90%) differentiating sample Our findings revealed higher concentration polysaccharides, aromatic amino acids, inorganic phosphates, along lower esterases saliva These alterations be linked an increased risk type 2 diabetes, hypertension, cardiovascular diseases, kidney tumor formation, having negative impact immunity. In contrast, no significant molecular or compositional changes observed underscore importance continued research biomarkers long-term health associated growing prevalence form consumption.
