As cities move towards the Smart City vision, integration of IoT devices promises economic growth and operational efficiency. However, discussions surrounding social equity promoted by smart technologies are often overlooked. This chapter examines potential to address key challenges in developing cities, particularly focusing on how it can bridge digital divide empower public officials. It also explores generational gap technological literacy, emphasizing need for inclusion among older populations who may struggle with new technologies. The methodology involves a comprehensive literature review, data analysis from existing city projects, expert interviews policymakers. By analyzing real-world case studies data-driven insights, this research provides holistic view role fostering equity. findings highlight importance empowering officials skills regulatory frameworks necessary ensure that services accessible equitable all citizens.
