With the emergence of emerging 4IR technologies, AI application tools (chatbots) are becoming more and popular widespread in various fields, including education. This study investigates factors that influence undergraduate students' inclination to utilize tools, specifically chatbots, for educational purposes. We applied an expanded diffusion theory innovation framework examine relationships between relative advantages, compatibility, trialability, trust, perceived usefulness, ease use, behavioral intention. Data from 842 students were collected through a questionnaire using 7-point scale, findings analyzed SmartPLS 4.0.9.2 software with covariance-based structural equation model. The results confirm hypotheses regarding trust chatbots. Students who perceive benefits chatbots express strong intention use them academic perception compatibility positively influences their adoption intention, those have opportunity try out likely them, indicating importance trialability. Surprisingly, did not find direct suggesting presence other influencing or dynamics offer practical insights contribute theoretical understanding innovation. Future research can further explore these gain deeper into complexities chatbot enhance settings.

Background The use of ChatGPT among university students has gained a recent popularity. current study aimed to assess the factors driving attitude and usage as an example generative artificial intelligence (genAI) in United Arab Emirates (UAE). Methods This cross-sectional was based on previously validated Technology Acceptance Model (TAM)-based survey instrument termed TAME-ChatGPT. self-administered e-survey distributed by emails for enrolled UAE universities during September–December 2023 using convenience-based approach. Assessment demographic academic variables, TAME-ChatGPT constructs’ roles conducted univariate followed multivariate analyses. Results final sample comprised 608 participants, 91.0% whom heard while 85.4% used before study. Univariate analysis indicated that positive associated with three constructs namely, lower perceived risks, anxiety, higher scores technology/social influence. For usage, being male, nationality, point grade average (GPA) well four usefulness, risks use, behavior/cognitive construct ease-of-use construct. In analysis, only explained variance towards (80.8%) its (76.9%). Conclusion findings is commonplace UAE. determinants included cognitive behavioral factors, ease determined These should be considered understanding motivators successful adoption genAI including education.

Background Chat Generative Pre-trained Transformer (ChatGPT) is a 175-billion-parameter natural language processing model that uses deep learning algorithms trained on vast amounts of data to generate human-like texts such as essays. Consequently, it has introduced new challenges and threats medical education. We assessed the use ChatGPT other AI tools among students in Uganda. Methods conducted descriptive cross-sectional study at four public universities Uganda from 1 st November 2023 20 th December 2023. Participants were recruited by stratified random sampling. used semi-structured questionnaire collect participants’ socio-demographics ChatGPT. Our outcome variable was tools. Data analyzed descriptively Stata version 17.0. modified Poisson regression explore association between various exposures. Results A total 564 participated. Almost all (93%) had heard about more than two-thirds (75.7%) ever Regarding used, majority (72.2%) ChatGPT, followed SnapChat (14.9%), Bing (11.5%), Bard (6.9%). Most complete assignments (55.5%), preparing for tutorials (39.9%), exams (34.8%) research writing (24.8%). Students also reported nonacademic purposes including emotional support, recreation, spiritual growth. Older 31% less likely compared younger ones (Adjusted Prevalence Ratio (aPR):0.69; 95% CI: [0.62, 0.76]). Makerere University 66% Gulu (aPR:1.66; CI:[1.64, 1.69]).
