A Mixed Methods Exploration of Young Women’s Agency and Mental Health during COVID-19 in Low-Income Communities in Mumbai, India

Introduction:
Adolescent
girls
and
young
women
(AGYW)
in
India

inequities

to

norms

mental
health,

This
paper
is
one
of
the
few
to
examine
how
people
who
have
lived
through
both
COVID-19
and
AIDS
understand
these
pandemics
in
relation
each
other.
Data
were
collected
Uganda,
we
found
that
epidemic
proved

a

reference
point
for
explaining
why

perceived
as
so
worrisome.
In
addition,
AIDS-related
stigma
problematically
common
frame
when
discussing
responsibility

SARS-CoV-2
