Abstract The arrival of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) into higher education has brought about significant transformations in assessment practices and pedagogical approaches. Large Language Models (LLMs) powered by GenAI present unprecedented opportunities for personalised learning journeys. However, the emergence raises concerns regarding academic integrity development essential cognitive creative skills among students. Critics worry potential decline standards perpetuation biases inherent training sets used LLMs. Addressing these requires clear frameworks continual evaluation updating to leverage GenAI's capabilities while preserving integrity. Here, we evaluated integration a year-long MSc program enhance student understanding confidence using GenAI. Approaching as digital competency, its use was integrated core modules across two semesters, focusing on ethical considerations, prompt engineering, tool usage. tasks were redesigned incorporate GenAI, which takes process-based approach. Students' perceptions alongside audits, they reported increased Thematic analysis one-to-one interviews revealed cyclical relationship between students' usage experience, adaptation.

The widespread application of generative artificial intelligence (AI) poses both opportunities and challenges in formal music education. Students can now effortlessly compose using simple text prompts with AI generators, a situation which encourages innovative pedagogical approaches democratizes creativity the classroom. However, concerns about cultural bias, originality, equity, ethical use school education require careful regulation. This article highlights potential benefits risks through review current applications education, process proposing set policy recommendations that serve to ethically effectively guide its use. These include enhancing literacy among students teachers, developing assessment frameworks reflect collaborative nature AI-assisted creation, defining acceptable boundaries terms ensuring equitable access tools, providing professional development for teachers. By maintaining an awareness technological advancements their impact on students' musical engagement, remain relevant young people's evolving experiences while simultaneously preparing them engage confidently, creatively, critically complex landscape AI.

Since the emergence of ChatGPT, a type large language model (LLM), there has been interest in how these tools can support teachers’ professional practices and assist them with tasks, e.g., lesson planning. The current study explored pre-service teachers interacted LLMs to improving plans, knowledge skills involved task-specific prompting practices. Data was collected from 25 enrolled Master Education English Language Teaching program at Hong Kong university. Analysis performed on their submitted assignments, which included revised plan, typed pedagogical rationale for modifications, logs interactions reflections use LLMs. findings revealed three-stage decision-making process among when interacting AI improve plans. These were task identification, iterative prompting, implementation. Our also suggested that engage effectively they need content knowledge, skills. This implications teacher development enhancing prompt effective accomplishing tasks.

Contemporary education is evolving in a landscape shaped by technological advancements, with generative artificial intelligence (AI) gaining significant attention from educators and researchers. ChatGPT, particular, has been recognized for its potential to revolutionize teachers’ tasks, such as lesson planning. However, effectiveness designing science plans aligned the research-based recommendations of Science Education literature remains infancy. This exploratory study seeks address this gap examining ChatGPT-assisted planning primary schools through lens sound theoretical framework Education: pedagogical content knowledge (PCK). Guided question, “What are characteristics created ChatGPT terms PCK?”, we designed four interactions ChatGPT-4o using carefully constructed prompts informed specific PCK aspects prompt engineering strategies. Using qualitative analysis, analyzed data these interactions. Findings indicate that incorporating elements into prompts, layer prompting strategies, providing reference texts might enhance quality AI-generated plans. challenges were identified. concludes guidelines teacher–ChatGPT co-design based on PCK.
