Purpose This study aims to explore how artificial intelligence (AI) tools influence the academic success and adaptation of international students in higher education. It examines benefits, challenges ethical considerations including integrity integrating AI learning environments. Design/methodology/approach An exploratory qualitative research approach was employed, utilising semi-structured interviews with postgraduate from diverse backgrounds. Findings The findings suggest that enhance performance by offering personalised learning, immediate feedback efficient assessment. However, concerns about use, over-reliance potential impact on critical thinking were prominent contexts assessments experiences. Originality/value offers unique insights focusing students, an often-underrepresented group education studies. Their distinctive challenges, adapting new environments overcoming language barriers, make them a particularly valuable sample for understanding role focus allows contribute perspectives generative (GenAI) like Grammarly ChatGPT facilitate improvement, especially enhancing writing proficiency managing expectations. This study explores Saudi undergraduate students’ perceptions of artificial intelligence (AI) tools in academic writing. Despite extensive research on AI higher education, there is limited focus writing, especially the context. A survey 189 students, proficient English and enrolled freshmen writing courses, was conducted. The students frequently used ChatGPT, Grammarly, Google Translate. Exploratory factor analysis identified two factors: “instructional support tools” practices tools,” explaining 55.302% variance. Descriptive revealed strong student agreement tools’ benefits, including idea generation, outline preparation, grammar spell-check improvements, time-saving. However, concerns about reliability, contextual accuracy, ethical implications were noted. indicates need for proper training clear guidelines to make most participants, various responses, indicated how helps develop their accuracy come up with new ideas although some participants worry relying too much technology. recommends that can be very helpful, but we use them thoughtfully cater different experiences concerns.

Many Master of Arts (MA) students believe that these tools offer significant benefits for improving writing abilities, though some challenges can hinder progress. This study explores the use Artificial Intelligence (AI) in academic among MA students, focusing on English majors at IUH. The research investigates both and AI like assistants language models students' proficiency.
