Background: Using Hofstede's Power Distance Theory (1980), this article discusses the high power distance perceived by Early Career Researchers (ECRs) within business school of a UK Higher Education Institution (HEI).The examines ECR interactions with Professoriate, and how can play significant part in inhibiting opportunities for developing networks research collaboration.ECRs often discuss belief that, early their career, there is an unwritten expectation that they will continue to conduct projects supervisory team Professoriate.This undertaken understanding it be senior researcher who receive main acknowledgements benefits work produced, even if has majority research.Methods: Following series interviews focus groups academic staff across range roles, disciplines, levels experience, data was analysed using inductive thematic analysis identify patterns meaning dataset, structured through framework approach.Findings: Four themes were identified analysis: (1) Benefits collaborative between ECRs Professoriate; (2) Limitations (3) Facilitators (4) Barriers Professoriate.Conclusions: It recommended HEIs foster culture values supports informal networking, effective communication, mentorship.
