Youth-caregiver relationship quality in residential youth care: Professionals’ perceptions and experiences

This
study
aimed
to
explore
the
perceptions
and
experiences
of
professionals
working
in
residential
care
(RC)
settings
(i.e.,
caregivers
directors)
about
youth-caregiver
relationship
quality
(YCRQ).
Method:
A
qualitative
was
developed

ABSTRACT
The
scarcity
of
evidence
on
how
supervision
in
the
child
protection
system
(CPS)
is
developed,

residential

Childhood
maltreatment
is
associated
with
wide-ranging
psychopathology
at
all
stages
of
life.

the
current
study,
we
investigated
whether
posttraumatic
stress
disorder
(PTSD)
severity
mediated
association
between
childhood
and
internalizing
externalizing
disorders
among
262
South
African
trauma-exposed
adolescents
(aged
12-18
years).
