The transition to a sustainable energy future in Ghana faces critical challenges, particularly integrating renewable sources like solar and wind into the national grid. This study examined Ghana’s progress adoption using International Atomic Energy Agency’s (IAEA) Model for Supply Strategies Their General Environmental Impacts (MESSAGE) tool. It evaluates feasibility of achieving 10% target set policies by 2030 beyond, highlighting key challenges their impact on country’s efforts. findings revealed significant shortfall, with penetration reaching only 4.77%, far below targeted 10%. actual installed capacity ranges from 150.87 MW 377.18 MW, falling considerably short projected 219.75 645.71 2020 2050, respectively. Expanding sector remains challenging, fossil-based thermal generation continuing dominate, raising concerns about emissions sustainability. Overcoming barriers requires policies, investment storage, smart grids, financial incentives.
