Childhood trauma may be prevalent in the general population, and psychosocial treatment of patients with cancer require consideration effects such early adversity on healing recovery process. In this study, we investigated long-term childhood 133 women diagnosed breast (mean age 51, SD = 9) who had experienced physical, sexual, or emotional abuse neglect. We examined their experience loneliness its associations severity trauma, ambivalence about expression, changes self-concept during experience. total, 29% reported experiencing physical sexual abuse, 86% neglect abuse. addition, 35% sample moderately high severity. Loneliness was directly influenced by indirectly discrepancies ambivalence. conclusion, found that common patients, 42% female reporting these experiences continued to exert negative social connection illness trajectory. Assessment recommended as part routine oncology care, trauma-informed approaches improve process a history maltreatment.

Abstract Background: Child sexual abuse is a human rights and public health issue with harmful impacts on individuals, families communities of all nations cultures. There lack research healing recovery from child for Aboriginal Torres Strait Islander families, communities.
