Background Burnout, characterised by emotional exhaustion (EE), depersonalisation (DP) and reduced personal accomplishment (PA), is caused chronic workplace stress. Though widely reported in doctors, variability definitions assessment methods render comparisons between studies challenging. Furthermore, traditional of reporting burnout can be misleading, focusing more on individuals than the workplace. Various scores from Maslach Burnout inventory (MBI) have been previously as ‘burnout’, inflating prevalence. Recent research suggests using latent profile analysis (LPA), to explore continuum engagement burnout, distinct patterns working life may contribute different profiles. Aims To examine prevalence profiles (LBP) amongst Irish hospital doctors. Methods LBP categorisation MBI was applied responses 1610 doctors a national survey. Effort-Reward Imbalance (ERI) questionnaire work ability score were used measure stress ability. Results In line with categorisation, respondents classified follow: 23% (N = 364) Engaged; 21% 332) (High EE DP), Overextended 476, 30%); 22% 355) Ineffective (low PA score), 5% 83) Disengaged (high DP scores).
