Genus Stachybotrys (Stachybotryaceae, Hypocreales) requires high humidity to grow and represents one of the most notorious fungi associated with suspected illness in moist buildings. If conidia are found settled indoor dusts, their presence may indicate water intrusion mold infestation revealed after dismantling building structures. Abstract The prevalence of sensitization to molds is low in healthy people, but significant asthmatics. As it has not yet been possible establish a cause-and-effect relationship between the presence mold allergens and occurrence allergic symptoms, there great deal uncertainty. update S2k guideline “Medical–clinical diagnostics for indoor exposure” should help objectify topic. Based on recommendations listed diagnosis suspected IgE-mediated allergy, this article presents possibilities skin tests, IgE determinations, other vitro test options, also their limitations clarifying cause. Potential include component-resolved allergy diagnostics, while difficult standardization allergen extracts due complex source insufficient commercial availability extracts. A diagnostic algorithm presented as tool systematic approach patients with mold-associated respiratory allergy.
