Bipolar disorder (BD) is a chronic associated with significant psychiatric morbidity and disability. Recent research has linked inflammatory processes to the pathology of BD. Resolvin D1 (RvD1), an anti-inflammatory molecule derived from eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) docosahexaenoic (DHA), been shown inhibit apoptosis neuroinflammation, promote neurogenesis. This study aims determine changes in serum RvD1 levels between acute episode euthymic periods patients BD their association metabolic syndrome (MetS) parameters. prospective clinical was conducted diagnosed BD-I according SCID-5. Patients whose were assessed during manic depressive episodes previous invited return after at least 8 weeks, when they had reached period. Blood samples for RvD1, C-reactive protein (CRP), hemogram tests collected both remission periods. The included 32 episodes, 27 41 healthy controls, no age difference among groups. decreased significantly complete period (p=0.017, z=-2.391) follow-up. decrease depression not statistically significant. Serum remained high control group (p=0.581, z=-0.553). During follow-up period, white blood cell (p=0.009, z=-2.606) neutrophil (p=0.007, z=-2.693) mania CRP values (p=0.004, z=-2.880) found have statistically. indicates that are elevated compared controls episode. We propose potential utility as diagnostic marker identifying states. can assume there process which also plays role. Further needed explore therapeutic targeting pathways treatment.

Suicide is defined as the act of a person attempting to take their own life by causing death. complex phenomenon that influenced multitude factors, including psychosocial, cultural, and religious aspects, well genetic, biochemical, environmental factors. From biochemical perspective, it crucial consider communication between endocrine, immune, nervous systems when studying etiology suicide. Several pathologies involve bidirectional peripheral activity central system action molecules such cytokines, hormones, neurotransmitters. These humoral signals, present in optimal quantities, are responsible for maintaining physiological homeostasis, mood states. Stress elevates cortisol proinflammatory cytokines levels alter neurotransmitters balance, thereby increasing risk developing psychiatric disorder subsequently suicidal behavior. This review provides an integrative perspective about neurochemical, immunological, endocrinological disturbances associated with behavior, particular focus on those alterations may serve potential markers and/or indicators state preceding tragic act.

ABSTRACT Brain information processing complexity is conventionally recognized as derived from neuronal activity, with neurons and their dynamic signalling responsible for the transfer of information. However, brain also contains other non‐neuronal cells, glial which exceed number are involved in processes related coding by neural networks underlying functions. Decisive advances characterization molecular physiological properties cells shed light on active roles neurotransmission physiopathology. This expanded relationship between glia challenges traditional neurobiology highlighting reciprocal influence, where it difficult to determine whether or initiate drive interactions. interplay creates a dilemma, causal hierarchy these two cell types remains unresolved. A philosophical tool, ‘Theory Complexity’ Edgard Morin can help better explain study neuron–glia Morin's proposal useful transform knowledge, order review functions antireductionist pattern. In this manuscript, we will discuss how use ‘retroactive loop’ principle at level, proposing new philosophical‐experimental grid that neuroscientists understanding glia–neuron interactions brain.

The body instinctively responds to external stimuli by increasing energy metabolism and initiating immune responses upon receiving stress signals. Corticosterone (CORT), a glucocorticoid (GC) that regulates secretion along the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis, mediates neurotransmission humoral regulation. Due widespread expression of receptors (GR), effects CORT are almost ubiquitous in various tissue cells. Therefore, on one hand, is molecular signal activates body’s system during other due chemical properties GCs, anti-inflammatory act as stabilizers control response stress. Brucellosis is an infection widely distributed around the world, and in some countries it considered a public health problem. causes insidious symptoms that make difficult to diagnose. Infection can also trigger chronic pain neuropsychiatric complications. Antibiotics are not always effective eradicate infection, contributing chronicity. We aimed investigate effects of antibiotic treatment on proinflammatory cytokines, neurotransmitters, corticosterone, behavior murine model infecrion B. abortus strain 2308. Four study groups were created: (a) control; (b) (c) infected with 2308; (d) treated rifampicin doxycycline. determined 2308 colony-forming units (CFUs), count dendritic cells, macrophages spleen; serum levels cytokines corticosterone; serotonin, dopamine, epinephrine, norepinephrine brain; equilibrium, physical strength, anxiety, hopelessness tests. The mice group was compared control assess whether sufficient recover neuroimmunoendocrine parameters. Our results showed despite brucellosis doxycycline, antibiotic-treated persistence CFUs, increased macrophage number, higher circulating corticosterone. Furthermore, IL-12, IL-6, TNF-α remained higher. found decrease muscular strength equilibrium concomitant changes neurotransmitters hippocampus, cerebellum, frontal cortex. data suggest remaining bacterial load after administration favors inflammatory, neurochemical, behavioral alterations, partly explaining widespread paradoxical symptomatology experienced by patients brucellosis.

Psychiatric illness is thought to be a brain somatic crosstalk disorder. However, the existing phenomenology-based Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth Edition (DSM-5) diagnostic framework overlooks various dimensions other than symptoms. In this study, we investigated associations between peripheral blood test indexes with symptom levels major depressive disorder (MDD), bipolar (BD), schizophrenia (SCZ) explore availability indexes.
