Background: The advancement of artificial intelligence (AI) in education has transformed the way students interact with technological tools, creating new challenges related to self-efficacy, anxiety, and AI dependence. Self-efficacy refers one's confidence their ability use AI, while AI-related anxiety pertains fear or concern when interacting these systems. These variables can influence dependence, affecting academic performance emotional well-being. Objective: This study aims examine self-efficacy toward on dependence among Peruvian university students. Methods: A descriptive cross-sectional was conducted 528 aged 18 37 years (M = 19.00, SD 3.84). Scales were used measure Correlation multiple regression analyses applied identify predictors Results: results showed that positively correlated (r 0.43, p < .01) 0.61, .01). The integration of artificial intelligence (AI) writing tools in second language (L2) academic presents both opportunities and challenges for medical education. This study employed a SWOT (strengths–weaknesses–opportunities–threats) analysis to examine students’ perspectives on using AI their practice. Forty-two students from major Iranian university participated the study, providing weekly reflections final over 15-week course. Thematic revealed that offer significant strengths linguistic skill development, particularly vocabulary enhancement, sentence improvement, grammar proofreading. However, weaknesses such as over-reliance AI, lack contextual understanding, occasional inaccuracies suggestions were identified. Opportunities included creative enhancement immediate refinement, while threats encompassed human–computer interaction, including potential misinformation dishonesty. highlights need balanced approach integrating into L2 instruction, emphasizing role supplementary aids rather than primary resources. Implications pedagogy include developing curricula teach critical evaluation AI-generated content implementing tasks require higher-order thinking skills. contributes growing body literature education provides valuable insights educators policymakers navigating evolving landscape AI-assisted
