This study examines the individual and societal impacts of integrating sustainability citizen science into early childhood education. While aims to preserve natural resources promote social equity, encourages individuals’ active participation in scientific processes. Education plays a crucial role in moving towards sustainable future. The United Nations Decade of for Sustainable Development has advocated education development (ESD) to promote global sustainability. UNESCO supports ESD as way provide society with the knowledge, skills, values, and attitudes needed living. While considerable progress been made many developed countries, particularly higher institutions, some extent developing similar success not observed Somalia’s establishments. This study examined influence on university students’ conduct Somalia. Through cluster sampling, 251 students from SIMAD Hormuud Universities Mogadishu were chosen participate by completing questionnaire. research revealed significant positive connection between behavior. findings emphasize importance integrating into curricula encourage cultural norms that endorse environmentally friendly practices. investigation offers valuable insights academics, policymakers, businesses seeking advance sustainability within educational settings beyond.

Purpose This study aims to examine the nature and trends in sustainability education climate change (SECC) higher using a comprehensive bibliometric analysis of literature indexed Scopus database. Design/methodology/approach Data were extracted from database keywords “sustainability education” “climate change” ensure extensive coverage. Total 14,465 research papers on both topics analyzed VOSviewer software. Findings The reveals mapping scientific across countries cooccurrence keywords, providing insights into future directions SECC education. Practical implications Based thematic map created highlight curricula for education, has identified several potential areas, such as interdisciplinary research, transformative carbon footprint, students community well-being, mitigation curriculum behavioral studies. Originality/value offers epistemological foundations generating knowledge advancing institutions.
