Abstract The microbiota is the ensemble of microorganisms inhabiting human body and it deeply influences health well-being. Recent studies showed its interplay with social behavior, suggesting that part might be socially transmissible. In this work, we investigate association between closerange proximity oral composition in a group children attending primary school. Unlike most related studies, our cohort comprises non-cohabiting individuals, use high-resolution sensors to objectively measure interactions. Our analysis shows prolonged interactions pairs correlate higher similarity their microbiota. These findings complement what known for co-habiting transmitted settings.

Abstract Modeling studies of household transmission data have helped characterize the role children in influenza and coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) epidemics. However, estimates from these may be biased since they do not account for heterogeneous nature contacts. Here, we quantified impact contact heterogeneity between members on estimation child relative susceptibility infectivity. We simulated epidemics severe acute respiratory syndrome 2 (SARS-CoV-2)-like virus-like infections a synthetic population 1000 households, assuming levels. Relative frequencies were derived study according to which contacts are more frequent father–mother pair, followed by child–mother, child–child, finally child–father pairs. Child infectivity then estimated while accounting or not. When ignoring heterogeneity, was underestimated approximately 20% two scenarios. when adults had different These results sensitive our assumptions European-style patterns; but highlight that collecting both needed assess complex behavior improve key biological parameters.

To analyze the association between risk behaviors and environmental factors SARS-CoV-2 infection in children adolescents family environment.Cross-sectional study. A total of 267 aged 5-19 years who have contact with COVID-19-positive essential workers were tested June October 2020. Behavioral variables associated investigated. Association these was performed using Poisson regression.SARS-CoV-2 prevalence 25.1%. Following confirmation COVID-19 diagnosis index case, 92.1% adults reported hand hygiene 83.5% showed habits respiratory etiquette. However, 12.7% wore masks common areas residence before COVID-19.
