A variety of new finds has produced a set species classified to the _Homo_ clade. Some these appear represent very small hominins with traits that are often seen in pathologies. The group traits, however, do not associate any known suite or single condition, either genetic induced by chemicals, radiation other means. first find hominin, Neandertal, was considered pathological modern human at first. claimed hominin were fakes displayed so unusual but whose status supported prominent scientists, only few questioned their authenticity. lack fit into evolutionary sequence given time been factor rejecting find, as consideration Taung fossil eventually proved. Nevertheless, repeated same kind different parts world, contexts investigator does seem remarkable. Placing phylogenetic setting is order, distance and frames challenging problem coincidence. Reference conditions producing several types dwarfism discussed context small-bodied finds. This paper proposes hypothesis unique infection _Homo erectus _populations could offer potential explanation for developmental anomalies hominins.

In this study we describe new results of excavations in the Dinaledi Subsystem Rising Star cave system, South Africa. two areas within Hill Antechamber and Chamber work uncovered concentrations abundant Homo naledi fossils including articulated, matrix-supported skeletal regions consistent with rapid covering by sediment prior to decomposition soft tissue. We additionally re-examine spatial positioning material associated sediments Puzzle Box area, from which H. remains representing a minimum six individuals were recovered 2013 2014. Multiple lines evidence exclude hypothesis that these three come bodies decomposed on floor chamber or shallow depression burial sediments. The material, topography subsystem, observations surrounding features was result gravity-driven slumping spontaneous movement present minimal hominin cultural test all areas, finding is most compatible pattern evidence. These suggest mortuary behavior part repertoire .
