The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between AST/ALT ratio and osteopenia or osteoporosis in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). A total 589 T2DM were divided into two groups based on T-score: T-score ≥ -1.0 group, normal bone mineral density < (OP). association osteopenia/OP evaluated by multivariate analyses. receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves used estimate diagnostic performance according area under ROC curve (AUC). group showed significantly higher level than those (0.93 ± 0.16 vs 1.17 0.24, P 0.001). According interquartile range ratio, participants four groups: Q1 (0.650, 0.874), Q2 (0.875, 0.999), Q3 (1.000, 1.173) Q4 (1.174, 1.917). After adjustment for confounding factors, compared level, subjects remained more likely have (Q3, OR 3.478, 95% CI 1.641-7.411; Q4, 15.278, 6.377-36.837). provided an AUC value 0.81 (95% 0.77-0.84) T2DM. An elevated is associated risk a practical cost-effective biomarker, may be potential predictor

Studies have found inconsistent results regarding triglyceride-glucose (TyG) index and bone health. This systematic review aims to synthesize the existing evidence on association between index, mineral density (BMD), fractures. A comprehensive search of PubMed, Scopus, Web Science, Embase databases was performed for studies published up December 26, 2024. Inclusion criteria encompassed human examining TyG in relation BMD or The risk bias assessed using Newcastle-Ottawa Scale (NOS). Data synthesis included both qualitative descriptive statistical analyses. From 201 identified, 12 met inclusion comprising 817,242 participants. Most reported a significant findings BMD. While some no correlation individuals aged ≥ 50 years, general population 18 years demonstrated Variations age study populations, presence diabetes, BMI, adjustment factors likely contributed these discrepancies. Further research is needed clarify role health its potential utility as surrogate marker. associated with fractures can serve marker osteoporosis populations rather than exclusively elderly.

The triglyceride-glucose (TyG) index, a recognized marker for insulin resistance, holds potential implications skeletal health. However, its relationship with fragility fractures remains uncertain. We aimed to elucidate the association between TyG index and in general US population. Cross-sectional data of 25,082 participants were obtained from National Health Nutrition Examination Survey. was investigated using univariate weighted multivariate logistic regression as well restricted cubic spline (RCS) models. least absolute shrinkage selection operator ten-fold cross-validation employed identify key variables, leading development nomogram model. Calibration receiver operating characteristic curves utilized evaluate model's validity. overall prevalence among 1.10%. After adjusting confounders, exhibited robust risk (odds ratio, 1.94; 95% confidence interval, 1.31–2.88; P < 0.001). RCS demonstrated positive linear fractures. predictive nomogram, incorporating other clinical factors, favorable performance (consistency = 0.901). Elevated levels significantly correlated These findings suggest that may serve fractures, underscoring importance early intervention improved fracture assessment tools practice.

Osteoporosis is a systemic metabolic bone disorder characterized by decrease in mass and the degradation of microarchitecture. Nevertheless, precise influence core marker syndrome-insulin resistance-on prognosis patients with osteoporosis osteopenia remains insufficiently understood. This study seeks to clarify association between novel insulin resistance metric, METS-IR, risks all-cause cardiovascular mortality among individuals diagnosed OP. utilizes data from National Health Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) collected 2007 2023, employing multivariable Cox proportional hazards regression models restricted cubic splines investigate METS-IR index risk osteopenia. Furthermore, subgroup analyses were performed identify potential effect modifications high-risk subpopulations. The cohort included 2175 osteopenia, followed for 16 years, during which 468 deaths 102 cardiovascular-related documented. identified nonlinear positive However, no significant was observed mortality. At threshold 2.3, hazard ratio reached 1, indicating shift low high. demonstrated stronger elevated levels or comorbid diabetes, while such relationship found highlights whereas These findings enhance understanding resistance's role its comorbidities, particularly relation underscores importance managing improve overall survival outcomes, further studies are needed explore specific impacts on outcomes.
