Abstract
Marine
heatwaves
trigger
severe
coral
bleaching
events
that
result
in
dramatic
losses
of
reefs
worldwide.
An
increasingly
common
method
used
to
mitigate
is
shade
portions
reefs.

as
shaded
corals
become
less
exposed
environmental
stress,
shading
has
also
been
hypothesized
lower
their
thermal
tolerance,
which
would
be
detrimental
for
survival.
Here,
we
investigated
how
long-term
modifies

cervicornis
is
an

reef-builder
species
in
the
Caribbean.
Its
ecological
importance
and
critical
status
have
prompted
efforts
to
restore
degraded
populations.
In
this

nursery-based
programmes
effectively
propagated

population
