Looking from the perspective of importance beekeeping production for agriculture, and its impact on sustainability, biodiversity food security, research self-sufficiency in honey market is important. The aim this article was to assess Poland terms sustainability production. covered years 2002–2023. material consisted secondary sources information FAOSTAT 2024 database, reports Institute Horticulture, Department Beekeeping Puławy, IERiGŻ-PIB. used dynamic indicators, Pearson’s correlation coefficient, ratios (SSR) intra-industry trade (IIT) indicators. analysis showed that not self-sufficient Environmental issues related security will be important a change model Poland, as sector plays an role maintaining biodiversity; hence, assessment should treated broadly, including benefits agriculture.

Honey bees are crucial pollinators that play a vital role in maintaining ecological balance. The colonies of managed honey China increased rapidly the past 20 years. Whether rapid increase bee populations would affect survival wild deserves attention. There four species genus Apis Guangxi, China, including florea, dorsata, mellifera ligustica, and cerana. This study conducted an investigation on biological characteristics measured 40 morphological characteristics. results showed for species, their swarming periods, mating emergence drones, nectar pollen source plants highly overlap. leads to potential competition optimum space, nectar, pollen. comparison traits between samples collected 2012 2023 aspect ratios forewings both florea dorsata have significantly increased. change may be attributed bees’ populations, which has encroached upon living spaces A. dorsata. coefficient variations exhibit high genetic diversity. Our indicated colonies’ number effect but they not facing great threats survival. Continuous monitoring diversity must maintained. Preserving is significance

Imported, non-native honey bees and bumble threaten native pollinators by spreading pathogens (disease parasites) outcompeting for nectar pollen. We reviewed Canadian federal, provincial/territorial, municipal legislation to find governance requirements that potentially reduce these threats. classified the as follows: tracking number location of bee hives (registry); controlling spread (registry with inspections, quarantines, cleaning regimes); competition (limiting shared use space); making regulations applicable all domesticated in addition bees. Policies control from are generally lacking. So, we propose concept “foraging leases” manage duration apiaries on public lands. Based identified requirements, recommend amendments Yukon Territory, a jurisdiction still has healthy pollinator communities pollinate various human food medicine crops. Recommendations include their pathogen status beekeeping enabled Animal Health Act, imported changes Protection Control Act and/or Wildlife restricting lands Public Lands Act.

ABSTRACT Bees and butterflies are generally viewed positively in society, whereas other insects, such as wasps or flies, often underappreciated despite their essential ecological roles. As biodiversity loss continues to pose a major challenge for humankind, it necessitates re‐evaluation of these biases support the protection whole. With large language model (LLM) chatbots becoming increasingly integrated into daily life information dissemination education purposes, understanding inherent is vital. In this study, we tested 10 popular Western LLM using simple prompts assess how they portray bees wasps. Butterflies, moths, mosquitoes were also included comparison evaluate broader societal perceptions. Our results show that indeed depicted by moths somewhat positively, while wasps, associated with more negative portrayals. We found LLMs mirror prevailing human toward different insect groups perceived importance nature conservation. Moreover, demonstrate tend oversimplify diversity predominantly restricting “bees” honeybees “wasps” yellowjackets, thereby neglecting includes wild parasitoid The appeared favor Nearctic species when recommending conservation priorities. By highlighting discussing implications, our research underscores nuanced science communication expert involvement decision‐making Addressing prevent reinforcement public misconceptions promote ecologically indispensable yet less groups.

Concerns about the impacts of introduced honey bees (Apis mellifera L.) on native insects and pollination services are prevalent. These may be more pronounced urban greenspaces, yet research use abundant winter-flowering plants, such as Acacia spp. Grevillea spp., in subtropical ecosystems is limited. Our study investigated seasonal floral resources by hover flies (Melangyna indet.) greenspaces varying urbanization levels Sydney, Australia. We found both insect groups similar with having a higher number interactions plants general, but Melangyna interacting plant species during some seasons. Particularly autumn winter, when flower, had visited than bees. The overlap used was expected various spring autumn. This suggests that play significant role especially highly urbanized sites. observed differences resource utilization variations indicate potential effects A. pollinators like difficult to quantify given high variables complexity system. findings underscore importance considering patterns multispecies studies impact biodiversity.
