Abstract Background Depression is a complex mental health disorder marked by persistent sadness, hopelessness, and reduced interest in daily activities. The present study developed the Afghanistan National Screening (ANDs) scale examined its psychometric properties within Afghan population. Methods enrolled 1245 individuals as participants. items ANDs were through thorough examination of pre-existing depression scales, expert assessments, participant interviews. Multiple evaluations administered to ensure reliability validity scale. Results After review corrected item-total correlation testing, 15-items exhibiting acceptable coefficients (ranging from 0.315 0.647) retained further validated significant factor loadings 0.358 0.725).
