The study focuses on occurrences of Ophiomorpha burrows in a transgressive–regressive succession composing the Early Paleocene Firkanten Formation deposited in paralic, prodelta to delta front conditions in the Central Basin of Spitsbergen. The burrows colonize sandstones of the Todalen Member at four sites and belong to two ichnospecies: Ophiomorpha cf. nodosa, forming dominantly vertical shafts; and O. cf. irregulaire, consisting of horizontal sinuous tunnels ending in subconical shafts. Both species are observed in shoreface sandstones deposited as a barrier bar. Lithological features and stratigraphic positions suggest that the trace-makers preferentially colonized high-energy sand environments. Foraminiferal faunas occurring below and above …

The State of San Luis Potosí, Mexico, is rich in fossils and has a long-standing tradition paleontological research.Nevertheless, most these studies have been focused on vertebrates invertebrates body fossils, with the ichnological record being overlooked. Here, we report occurrence ichnofossils (Diplocraterion parallelum, Ophiomorpha nodosa, Skolithos linearis, Palaeophycus tubularis) from Upper Cretaceous (Maastrichtian) Cárdenas Formation, southeastern Potosí.Invertebrate trace associated suggest that Formation was deposited low to high energy system, occasional storm events, shallow water platform (delta plain or coastal paleoenvironment influenced by tidal action).

Pan global Permian coal measures are unique in the evolution of Earth, not matched any period before or since. Middle and late coal-bearing strata widely distributed Mongolia. In particular, a large concentration transtensive sub-basins is located southern Mongolia, some which well documented. However, developed along shores Mongol-Transbaikalian Seaway central focus this contribution, has received very limited attention. This study focuses on c. 420 m thick middle part 2,600 Permo-Triassic succession Bayanjargalan district. The draws data from 38 drillholes, 3 km trenches, mapping, petrological analysis sandstone samples, macroflora, fauna trace fossils, 82 quality samples as washability ash XRD 3t bulk sample. unstable wedge-shaped architecture seams strongly suggest syn-tectonic influence their development. Paleoclimatic indicators peat mire ecosystem during relatively cold - temperate climatic conditions. Peat-forming plants such Cordaites, Rufloria Koretrophyllites probably benefited moist air currents seaway. Plant-arthropod interactions reported two sites, particular DT228 DT246 oviposition lesions, latter being almost twice size previous report North America. Results proximate analyses returned consistent high yields 46.95% (db) 43.45% (adb) sample, unusual for coals

Abstract The Cenomanian (Upper Cretaceous) sedimentary rocks of the External Prebetic (Betic Cordillera) in Sierra de Montearagón-Carcelén (SE Spain) record transgression and flooding continental deposits subsequent development an inner shallow carbonate platform. transgressive surface is densely colonized by infaunal trace-makers Glossifungites ichnofacies ( Gastrochaenolites ), which indicate sediment starvation erosion as well colonization a firmground. first were thick calcarenite bar (2 to 11 m) with large-scale cross-bedding pointing high-energy environment Rosselia Ophiomorpha ) confirms loose sandy bottom under conditions. overlaying stratigraphic succession characterized subtidal laminated marly limestones intertidal rhizoliths interpreted mangrove swamp environment.
