Ginseng is one of the most widely used herbal medicines and is reported to have a wide range of therapeutic and pharmacological applications. Ginseng may also be potentially valuable in treating cardiovascular diseases. Panax ginseng C. A. Meyer (P. ginseng) has a long history of medicinal use and can treat variety diseases. P. contains active ingredients, such as saponins, polypeptides, volatile oils, polysaccharides. Among them, saponins have always been considered the main components responsible for its pharmacological activities. However, more studies shown that polysaccharides play an indispensable role in value ginseng. Ginsenoside Rc (G-Rc) is one of the major protopanaxadiol-type saponins isolated from Panax ginseng, a well-known medicinal herb with many beneficial properties including anticancer, anti-inflammatory, antiobesity, and antidiabetic effects. In this study, we investigated effects G-Rc on inflammatory responses in vitro examined mechanisms these effects.The inflammation system used lipopolysaccharide-treated macrophages, tumor necrosis factor-α/interferon-γ-treated synovial cells, HEK293 cells transfected various inducers inflammation.G-Rc significantly inhibited expression macrophage-derived cytokines, such as factor-α interleukin-1β. also markedly suppressed activation TANK-binding kinase 1/IκB ε/interferon regulatory factor-3 p38/ATF-2 signaling activated RAW264.7 human cells.G-Rc exerts its anti-inflammatory actions by suppressing signaling.
