Abstract Objective To compare the effectiveness of interventions for management long covid (post-covid condition). Design Living systematic review. Data sources Medline, Embase, CINAHL, PsycInfo, Allied and Complementary Medicine Database, Cochrane Central Register Controlled Trials from inception to December 2023. Eligibility criteria that randomised adults (≥18 years) with drug or non-drug interventions, placebo sham, usual care. Results 24 trials 3695 patients were eligible. Four (n=708 patients) investigated eight (n=985) physical activity rehabilitation, three (n=314) behavioural, four (n=794) dietary, (n=309) medical devices technologies, one (n=585) a combination exercise mental health rehabilitation. Moderate certainty evidence suggested that, compared care, an online programme cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) probably reduces fatigue (mean difference −8.4, 95% confidence interval (CI) −13.11 −3.69; Checklist Individual Strength subscale; range 8-56, higher scores indicate greater impairment) improves concentration −5.2, −7.97 −2.43; problems 4-28; impairment). online, supervised, combined rehabilitation leads improvement in overall health, estimated 161 more per 1000 (95% CI 61 292 more) experiencing meaningful recovery, symptoms depression −1.50, −2.41 −0.59; Hospital Anxiety Depression Scale 0-21; impairment), quality life (0.04, 0.00 0.08; Patient-Reported Outcomes Measurement Information System 29+2 Profile; −0.022-1; less intermittent aerobic 3-5 times weekly 4-6 weeks function continuous 3.8, 1.12 6.48; SF-36 component summary score; 0-100; No compelling was found support other including, among others, vortioxetine, leronlimab, probiotics-prebiotics, coenzyme Q10, amygdala insula retraining, L-arginine vitamin C, inspiratory muscle training, transcranial direct current stimulation, hyperbaric oxygen, mobile application providing education on covid. ObjectiveTo identify factors, present at 3 months after COVID-19 that are associated with the level of functioning 1 year hospitalization.DesignMulticenter prospective observational study.SettingRegion Västra Götaland Sweden.ParticipantsPatients ≥ 18 years age who were followed regarding body functions and activities discharge from a hospitalization for COVID-19.Main measuresPatient-reported outcome measures year, clinical follow-up information retrieved medical charts.ResultsIn total 169 participants included in analysis, including 113 males (67%). The mean patient was 66 (standard deviation (SD) 13, range 21-95). One hospitalization, 50 (34%) under normative value forced vital capacity 57 (39%) expiratory volume second. walking distance 441 m (SD 118 m) 6-minute test, 62 (40%) patients reported mobility problems. Older age, female sex, more self-reported symptoms physical fatigue significantly lower levels COVID-19. initial severity did not influence year.ConclusionPreviously hospitalized individuals respiratory difficulties may acceptable lung function on spirometry but be close to their maximal functional performance. findings highlight need in-depth assessments rehabilitation needs.

Background A significant number of individuals who have contracted SARS-CoV-2 report persistent somatic symptoms after the infection has resolved. Evidence-based treatment options for Long COVID are lacking to date. To ensure that an expectation management intervention, designed research project SOMA.COV, addresses relevant patient needs as well promote acceptance and adherence, a participatory approach was chosen. Objective The aim present study explore wishes patients with regarding preliminary version intervention thereby inform further development manual. Methods Twenty-two affected by participated in one four focus groups June July 2023. Participants were presented draft content four-session intervention. Feedback audio-recorded, transcribed, analyzed using thematic analysis. Results Thirteen themes relating main components manual developed. Large parts received overall positive feedback, including psychoeducation on biopsychosocial etiology condition, elements cognitive restructuring, imagination exercise. Patients’ response vicious circle fear behavior change exercise mixed. Modifications made patients’ feedback. Conclusion Patients provided feedback while also highlighting important adaptations necessary this group. results informed finalization within SOMA.COV project, which investigates effectiveness three-armed randomized controlled trial.

Abstract Background Harmonizing core outcome domains allows for pooling data, comparing interventions, and streamlining research evaluation. At the same time clinicians require concise feasible measures routine practice. Considering heterogeneity of post-COVID-19 condition, a biopsychosocial approach requires sufficient coverage psychosocial dimension with assessments. Previous recommendations sets have serious limitations regarding aspects condition. This paper specifically focuses on outcomes adults providing both comprehensive set streamlined clinical tailored use. Methods In structured Consensus Development Approach, European Network to improve diagnostic, treatment, healthcare patients persistent somatic symptoms (EURONET-SOMA) developed assessments The experts identified variables instruments which should be considered in studies suffering from are setting relevant research. Results We three higher-order dimensions each encompassing several domains: first dimension, “outcomes”, encompasses (1) classification/ diagnostics (2) (including fatigue), (3) psychopathological status mental comorbidities, (4) physical (5) neurocognitive symptoms, (6) illness consequences. second domain “mechanisms” (7) cognitive components, (8) affective (9) behavioral (10) social (11) psychobiological bridge markers (e.g., neuroimmunological psychoneuroendocrinological variables). third domain, “risk factors”, includes factors such as (12) socioeconomic sociocultural factors, (13) pre-existing health issues, (14) personality neuroticism), (15) adverse childhood experiences, (16) ongoing disability or pension claim, (17) media For specific suggested purposes Conclusions recommended help increase consistency condition across investigations, synergies, facilitate decision-making when different interventional approaches. It better identify subgroups heterogeneous populations offering practical tools practice through set.

Long COVID represents a significant challenge in understanding the prolonged impact of disease. Despite its increasing recognition, detailed insights into long-term cardiopulmonary consequences remain sparse. This study aimed to evaluate functional capacity individuals with persistent symptoms after severe COVID-19 infection compared control without symptomatic or mild 17 months. is case-control assessing 34 divided two groups regarding by distance 6-min walk test (D6MWT) associated gas analysis, spirometry, respiratory muscle strength, and quality life. During 6 MWT, an important lower heart rate (HR) was observed for group (106 ± 10 bpm, difference mean: 21.3; p < 0.001), greater exertional perception (Borg dyspnea: 4.5 [2.0-9.0], 0.001 Borg fatigue: 4.0 [2.0-7.0], = 0.01), decrease covered (416 94 m, 107; 0.002), low value O2 uptake (V˙O2) (11 5.0 mL/(kg min), 8.3; 0.005) minute ventilation (22 8 L/min, 18.6; addition very life scores. Regression analysis showed association between D6MWT fatigue dyspnea at rest (p 0.003; 0.009). V˙O2 HR were also significantly outcomes 0.04 0.004, respectively). In conclusion, who have persist capacity, V˙O2, behavior,

Objective Several rehabilitation interventions have been proposed to support people with post-COVID-19 condition (PCC). However, the full spectrum of these remains unclear, partly due complexity PCC, which encompasses a broad range symptoms affecting multiple organ systems and health domains. This scoping review aimed identify available for PCC outcome measures used evaluate them, facilitate development multifaceted improve patient care. Methods Following Joanna Briggs Institute Framework, we searched CINAHL, EMBASE, MEDLINE, PsychINFO, CENTRAL Scopus databases from inception 22 January 2024 experimental observational studies investigating adults PCC. Interventions their corresponding were synthesised based on targeted outcomes aligned most common manifestations The quality intervention reporting was assessed using Template Intervention Description Replication (TIDieR) checklist. Results We identified 74 studies; 28 randomised trials (37.8%) 46 quasi-experimental designs (62.2%). Most consisted different combinations education, exercises therapies manage dyspnoea, fatigue psychological symptoms, such as anxiety depression. Few addressed postexertional malaise, cognitive function, memory, balance coordination. At least half included required confirmed SARS-CoV-2 infection participant inclusion. Reporting adherence rates limited, 65% did not report adverse events. Conclusion There is need more comprehensive inclusive approaches that address symptomatology care enhance reproducibility future studies.
