Abstract In recent years, the advances in light‐responsive soft materials with fascinating properties and functions have attracted tremendous attention, which are also enlightening when attempting to achieve goals of complex deformations, motions, or attractive applications by precise regulation. Attractively, light is not only a clean inexhaustible energy but can be controlled remotely, quickly accurately non‐contact way. Moreover, capable amplifying photo‐triggered molecular changes at microscopic scale into macroscopic that is, directly converting input output mechanical work, therefore enabling potential field actuators functional devices. To date, some wonderful reviews reported progress photo‐driven materials. However, research ultraviolet, visible (Vis) near‐infrared (NIR) light‐driven containing azobenzene other non‐azobenzene moieties has been yet. this review, we summarize terms preparation methods, response wavelengths applications. Firstly, methods photoresponsive introduced. Subsequently, photoinduced deformations motions summarized, Vis NIR behaviors especially highlighted. Finally, classified. guide future work for researchers, existing problems development prospects proposed.

Abstract Light‐fueled dissipative self‐assembly possesses enormous potential in the field of optical information due to controllable time‐dependent signals, but remains a great challenge for constructing intelligent light‐operated logic circuits limited availability signal inputs and outputs. Herein, series light‐fueled systems with variable signals are reported realize diverse gates by modulating fluorescence variations loaded fluorophores. Three kinds alkyl trimethylammonium homologs employed co‐assemble merocyanine‐based photoinduced amphiphile separately construct self‐assemblies, showing unexpectedly different control behaviors fluorophores during light irradiation thermal relaxation processes. The opposite monotonicity emission intensity is achieved just changing excitation wavelength. Furthermore, varying types trimethylammoniums wavelengths, robust system accomplished, integrating AND, XNOR, XOR functions, which provides an effective pathway advancing transmission applications.

Abstract Molecular photoswitches can undergo isomerization under light exposure, making them uniquely attractive for high spatiotemporal resolution remote control of biological functions. Visible and near‐infrared (NIR) light, with their low energy consumption, safety, strong tissue penetration, are particularly suitable applications. Therefore, developing visible‐ NIR light‐driven molecular use is great significance. This review introduces the most common presents state‐of‐art applications in bioimaging, biosensing, drug delivery, photocontrolled cancer phototherapy, photopharmacology. The opportunities challenges future development outlined.

Triplet-sensitization has been proven invaluable for creating photoswitches operated over a full visible-light spectrum. While designing efficient triplet-sensitizers is crucial establishing photochromism, it remains an appealing yet challenging task. In this work, we propose versatile strategy to fabricate with intermolecular charge-transfer complexes (CTCs). Through fine-tuning interactions between various donor and acceptor units, series of CTC sensitizers were prepared intensified absorption distinctive narrow ΔEST feature. By virtue this, bidirectional photochromism (475 nm/605 nm) was achieved via integrating classic diarylethene (DAE) in substrates upon triplet photoreaction pathways. Proof-of-concept applications, such as photoresponsive printing mechanic-facilitated inkpad, subsequently presented. The flexible accessibility tunability facilitate both generalized customized production systems that operate within the region.

Abstract Multicolor photochromic materials are highly attractive in high‐end intelligent terminal products for on‐demand information displays. It is extremely challenging to realize multicolor photochromism by constructing multiple F‐centers a single inorganic host through traditional trap engineering strategy. Here, promising design strategy demonstrated develop via manipulating chemical coloration (CC) photochromics. To validate this, the colored BaMgSiO 4 synthesized adding different colorants (Co, Cr, Nd, etc.), displaying both bright color and high efficiency with fast response speed sunlight. Upon UV or sunlight irradiation, (PC) can effectively composite CC, then achieving reversible chromism (deep blue gray black @Co, dark green reddish brown @Cr, pale purple deep @Nd, etc.) precise regulation of light response. The designed components exhibit display detection, showing great potential ceramic backplate dosimetry. These results provide new perspective designing high‐quality systems, greatly enriching aesthetic versatility flexibility smart wearable devices.

Abstract Donor‐Acceptor Stenhouse Adduct (DASA), a class of push‐pull negative photochrome, has received large interest lately owing to its versatile synthesis, modularity and excellent photoswitching in solutions. From technological perspective, it is imperative for this photoswitches work robustly solid state, e. g. thin films. We feature molecular framework the optimized design DASAs by introducing new thioindoline donor ( D3 ) assessing performance against known 2 nd generation indoline‐based donors. The systematic structure‐function investigations suggest that achieve robust reversible photoswitching, ground state with low charge separation desired. stronger electron donors larger result population photothermalstationary (PTSS) reduced photostability. DASA D3A3 seems be special case among series as causes red shift ca . 15 nm), however less polarization marginally better photostability compared unsubstituted 2‐methyl indoline D1A3 ). also emphasize consideration key additional factors can modulate red‐light properties chromophores polymer films, which might not dominant homogenous solution state.
