Abstract Most firms, especially small and medium enterprises (SMEs), find it difficult to integrate circular economy strategies within their business models. Moreover, there is a lack of research on approaches for the successful implementation economies in SMEs field manufacturing. To fill this gap, we investigate antecedents absorptive capacity cases using qualitative multiple‐case study. Focusing horticultural sector, interviewed six Italian NVivo 12 analysis. The data were then classified into first‐order second‐order categories sorted dimensions. Our results highlight significant contribution provided by capacities SMEs. We highlighted three each dimension explored key concepts. study contributes academic literature links between corporate sustainability providing insights role acquisition, assimilation, transformation exploitation capabilities practices.

The concept of Sustainable Production is evolving with changes triggered by the emergence new economic and industrial models such as Circular Economy Industry 4.0. However, most studies that currently link these concepts are based on principles defined 20 years ago. Therefore, primary aim this study to redefine should govern operations in transition towards a smart industry models. To end, an initial proposal 11 was shared world-class experts (academics practitioners) consensus sought through Delphi Panel. Abstract Automakers' transition from a linear economy to circular (CE) in response sustainable development‐oriented regulatory and competitive pressures is challenging process that requires innovative, practical technologies. However, Industry 4.0 (I4.0) technologies are an important part of the CE for environmentally friendly companies. In this study, we examine whether pressure (RP) (CP) toward sustainability motivate firms implement I4.0 CE, along with mediating effects environmental orientation (EO). PLS‐SEM via SmartPLS software was used analyze data 230 managers automotive auto component manufacturing industries India. The findings study showed RP CP positively influence adoption, which impacts capability.
