Abstract Agro-waste is the outcome of under-utilization bioresources and a lack knowledge to re-use this waste in proper ways or circular economy approach. In Indian medicinal system, root Cyperus scariosus (CS) used at large scale due their vital properties. Unfortunately, aerial part CS treated as agro-waste an under-utilized bioresource. Due knowledge, weed. This present study first ever attempt explore leaves medicinally nutrient rich source. To determine food nutritional values neglected R.Br. (CS), i.e. leaves, phytochemicals metal ions were quantified by newly developed HPLC ICPOES-based methods. The content observed analysis for caffeic acid, catechin, epicatechin, trans-p-coumaric trans-ferulic acid was 10.51, 276.15, 279.09, 70.53, 36.83 µg/g, respectively. GC–MS/MS analysis, fatty acids including linolenic phytol, palmitic etc. identified. ICPOES significant Na, K, Ca, Cu, Fe, Mg, Mn, Zn observed. TPC TFC 17.933 mg GAE eq./g 130.767 QCE along with IC 50 value 2.78 mg/mL DPPH assay better antacid activity measured than standard (CaCO 3 ). methanolic extract showed anti-microbial against Staphylococcus aureus (15 ± 2 mm), Pseudomonas aeruginosa (12 mm) Escherichia coli (10 mm). silico studies confirmed vitro results obtained from antioxidant, antiacid, studies. addition, revealed anti-cancerous anti-inflammatory potential leaves. study, thus, demonstrated significance conversion into mankind pharmaceutical potent material. Consequently, highlighted that have importance good utility industry improving bio-valorization environment.

Physochlaina is a genus of flowering plants belonging to the family Solanaceae and consists 10 species distributed in various Asian countries. The have been traditionally used cure variety illnesses due their highly valuable medicinal properties, including cancer, asthma, cough, weakness, stomachache, diarrhea, swelling, spasms, toothache, boils, ulcers, rheumatic pain, chronic bronchitis, gastric problems, abdominal palpitation, insomnia. gained significant attention remarkable ethnopharmacological ethnomedicinal significance. researchers isolated so far 71 biologically active secondary metabolites from different species, which include flavonoids, alkaloids, coumarins, phenolic acids, iridoids, sterols. These compounds exhibit diverse biological activities, such as antibacterial, anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory, cytotoxic, anticancer properties. present review has compiled with intention providing comprehensive overview botany, distribution, traditional uses, phytochemical profile, activities for future exploration plant-based drugs therapeutic approaches. contributes understanding pharmacological potential unraveling chemical composition, highlighting relevance developing agents. Till date, numerous properties phytochemicals that support ethnobotanical history documented number scientific publications. However, greater emphasis should be paid vivo investigations on extracts phytoconstituents well mechanistic analysis help drug developers better understand how use resources herbal formulations using techniques.
