This study assesses the current state of knowledge head and neck squamous cell carcinomas (HNSCC), which are malignancies arising from orifices adjacent mucosae aerodigestive tracts. These contiguous anatomical areas unique in that 2 important human oncoviruses, Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) papillomavirus (HPV), causally associated with nasopharyngeal oropharyngeal cancers, respectively. Mortality rates have remained high over last 4 decades, insufficient attention paid to viral clinical oncology different subgroups HNSCC. We compared contrasted double-stranded DNA viruses relevant molecular oncogenesis their respective cancers against other cancers. Tobacco alcohol ingestion also reviewed, as regard genetic progression/mutation accumulation model carcinogenesis. The importance stringent stratification when searching for cancer mutations biomarkers is discussed. Evidence presented a dysplastic/pre-invasive cancerous phase HPV+ analogous raises possibility strategies screening early diagnosis will undoubtedly save lives. Staging prognostication changed take into account distinct biological prognostic pathways viral+ viral- Diagnosis pre-cancers stage reduce mortality rates. Multi-modal treatment options HNSCC especially recent developments immunotherapies precision medicine strategies. Knowledge integration oncogenic sound planning, hypothesis generation, trials continue provide therapeutic future.

Abstract Cervical cancer is a leading cause of gynecological death in the world. Human papillomavirus (HPV) most causative factor cervical cancer. In addition, many genetic factors are involved development. Most studies focus on samples to do research work about and precancerous lesions, but no sensitive or specific biomarkers were found. High-throughput genomic technologies able capture information from tumors lesions blood, thus providing new way for early diagnosis precancer Blood an ideal specimen detecting because it contains lot information, such as circulating tumor cells DNA (ctDNA). This article reviews clinical use challenges blood ctDNA testing patients with

Purpose No large-scale prospective randomized study with a long-term follow-up period has evaluated the survival outcomes of preconcurrent chemoradiotherapy (CCRT) 18-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography–computed tomography ( 18 FDG PET–CT) in patients non–human papillomavirus (HPV)-associated oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC). Patients and Methods We included stage I–IVA p16-negative OPSCC receiving definitive CCRT categorized them into two groups according to pre-CCRT PET–CT compared their outcomes: case group consisted who underwent PET–CT, whereas comparison did not receive PET–CT. Results The final cohort 3942 (1663 2279 groups, respectively). According multivariable Cox regression analysis, was significant prognostic factor for overall stages I–II standard CCRT. adjusted hazard ratio (95% confidence interval) all-cause death advanced (III–IVA) 0.75 (0.87–0.94, P = 0.0236). Conclusions Routine use is necessary each patient OPSCC. Abstract Human papilloma virus (HPV) infection is a key risk factor and etiology for oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC). HPV‐induced OPSCC rapidly increasing in incidence, with men experiencing increased mortality. When identified at an early stage, can be successfully treated. Diagnosis of HPV‐related relies on expert physical examination invasive biopsy. Since saliva bathes the mucosa collected noninvasively, obtained via salivary risings attractive body fluid detection OPSCC. A plethora DNA, RNA, protein biomarkers have been explored. This review discusses these markers their robustness detecting oncogenic HPV samples. Methods DNA were more reliable than those albeit both require time‐consuming analyses. Salivary proteomics are new, promising focus research, while practical, lag behind nucleic acid methods development.
