EEG methods offer a promising approach to study the development of attention or attention-related processes such as change-detection and attentional capture. However, these from early middle childhood is not well understood. In current study, we utilized passive three-stimulus oddball paradigm examine age-related changes in auditory capture large sample children across (N = 475; 249 female, 226 male; M

Abstract Increased error‐related negativity (ERN), a measure of error monitoring, has been suggested as biomarker obsessive–compulsive disorder (OCD). Additional insight into monitoring is possible using time‐frequency decomposition electroencephalographic (EEG) data, it allows disentangling the brain's parallel processing information. Greater theta thought to reflect an detection signal, while delta activity may more elaborative post‐detection processes (i.e., strategic adjustments). Recent investigations show that decreased alpha index attentional engagement following errors; additionally, increases and decreases in beta could motor inhibition preparation, respectively. However, dynamics OCD are largely unknown. The present study examined theta, delta, power early adolescents with data‐driven, cluster‐based approach. aim was explore electrocortical measures ( n = 27, 15 females) without 14 during arrowhead version flanker task EEG recorded. By examining separate measures, provides novel insights suggesting pediatric be enhanced post‐error decrease).

The theta band is one of the most prominent frequency bands in electroencephalography (EEG) power spectrum and presents an interesting paradox: while elevated during resting state linked to lower cognitive abilities children adolescents, increased tasks associated with higher performance. Why does power, measured versus tasks, show differential correlations functioning? This review provides integrated account functional correlates across different contexts. We first present evidence that correlated executive functioning, attentional abilities, language skills, IQ. Next, we research showing increases memory, attention, control, these processes better Finally, discuss potential explanations for between resting/task-related offer suggestions future this area.
